I monitor the server load through the nixstats service.
I noticed that when website is connected to Cloudflare, the load on the network begins to grow.
You will understand everything from the screenshots. I'm just wondering from a purely technical point of view why this is happening? What is the mechanism?
Just in theory, Cloudflare should reduce the load, reduce traffic consumption, etc. And the statistics show like this. In the screenshot, proxying via Cloudflare is enabled before 16:20, and disabled after 16:20.

Is caching enabled?
Is SSL/TLS Recommender enabled?
Maybe it somehow affects the fact that with the option without CloudFlare, the connection is essentially local, and with the option with CloudFlare completely remote.

Akamai is one of the largest and most well-known providers of CDN and cloud services in the world. In fact, it is believed that it is responsible for servicing 15 to 30 percent of all web traffic.
It is multifunctional and powerful, and also offers first-class protection against DDoS attacks and other threats. Its Prolexic PLXedge technology provides 2.3 Tbps bandwidth designed to absorb DDoS, so your site remains secure.
Akamai also offers value-added services. One of such services is "Kona Site Defender", which can help companies unload their security monitoring and threat protection in Akamai. It is fully customizable and allows users to track everything in real time and make changes.

But, there are also some problems here. Firstly, Akamai's scale means that it cannot change its rules on the fly, unlike its smaller and more flexible competitors.
It is also one of the most expensive CDN service providers. Unlike Cloudflare, Akamai also does not offer a free tier. But, if prices aren't a concern, this is one of the most feature-rich Cloudflare alternatives you can get.
