Moving away from LAMP stack and into cloud?

Hello all

hopefully this is the right section to post my question.

We have been running the traditional LAMP stack for our website (php+mysql, similar to wordpress), for the past 10+ years. But as we are about to tackle some upgrade projects, a question came up - should we go to cloud? and if we do, what should we do there?

The obvious answer is just to get a VM in the cloud and put LAMP on it again... ie Amazon Lightsail type of thing.

But - can we do more? should we even be doing that anymore? Does it make more sense to do it as a collection of cloud services - ie host our files in storage, use the distributed MySQL database in the cloud? I realize in this scenario we lose a lot of flexibility and control, but is this design the way of the future? Also, keeping costs low and steady is very important to us.

Thanks, perhaps someone can share their experience on moving away from LAMP.

I would say you first need Cloud training. Secondly, can you please clarify which CMS you are using?
If you want to get into cloud hosting, then you should choose managed cloud hosting platform. It will make your life easy. You will be able to install the LAMP stack in a few clicks with more scalability and security. Please share your thoughts about it.
I will be able to guide you then accordingly.

The cloud definitely doesn't always guarantee seamless fail-over that's for sure.
Outages can occur with cloud providers as well as non-cloud based providers. A very well known cloud provider experienced some downtime recently that disrupted their services across multiple regions when only one region had issues.
