Earlier today, I was sent an email by Afternic informing me about the sale of a domain name. The issue with this is that I haven't owned the mentioned domain name for more than a year. The reason being it is under GoDaddy's regulation and I had let it expire.

Despite my Afternic account having been created some years ago, the name in question is still listed on their website. As Afternic is now owned by GoDaddy, any changes made to my GoDaddy account will also be reflected in my Afternic library. For instance, if I remove a name from my GoDaddy library, it will automatically be removed from my Afternic library as well.

Do you need any further information on this matter?

Yesterday, I was informed via email by Afternic that GoDaddy registrar has now become a part of their network. This means that domain names registered with GoDaddy are eligible to be included in the premium listing on Afternic.

After receiving this news, I decided to upgrade a number of domains to the "Premium" promo level. I received a letter from Afternic stating that I would receive further instructions.

The following day, I received an email from GoDaddy requesting my authorization for the selected domain names in the listing. After reviewing and agreeing to the terms, the authorization process was completed. Shortly after, the status of these domains in Afternic changed and they were successfully added to the premium listing.

In a recent development, GoDaddy, a renowned domain name registrar, has acquired Afternic's domain name auction platform which was previously owned by NameMedia. The acquisition will allow GoDaddy to broaden its service offerings in the domain market by simplifying the process of purchasing registered domain names for its customers.

This move will also help to bolster the company's position as it gears up for the launch of new top-level domains (New gTLDs) and enable consolidating both new name registrations and secondary market operations on one platform. The Afternic auction office is located in the U.S. state of Massachusetts, with over 100 different registrars and approximately 5 million domain names listed under their service. The Afternic domain search system processes more than 67 million requests every month.

Currently, GoDaddy boasts more than 16 million customers utilizing their services, making it a leading player in the industry. However, the financial details of this agreement have not been disclosed to the public.

In this case, it seems like there may be a discrepancy between the domain name ownership information in your Afternic and GoDaddy accounts. To resolve this issue, I recommend contacting GoDaddy customer support directly. They will have the necessary resources and expertise to assist you in resolving any account-related issues and discrepancies. They can investigate the situation and provide guidance on how to proceed.

I suggest taking the following steps:

1. Contact GoDaddy Customer Support: Reach out to GoDaddy's customer support team to explain the situation and provide them with all the relevant information, including the domain name in question and the details of the email you received from Afternic.

2. Verify Ownership: Confirm with GoDaddy that the domain name is no longer under your ownership and that it has indeed expired. They will be able to investigate the issue and provide you with more information on why the domain name is still listed on Afternic's website.

3. Communicate with Afternic: Once you have contacted GoDaddy, you can reach out to Afternic's customer support team as well. Inform them about the discrepancy and provide them with any information or updates you receive from GoDaddy. They might be able to assist you further in resolving the issue or provide additional insights into the situation.

4. Follow the Guidance provided: Both GoDaddy and Afternic will likely provide guidance on how to proceed and resolve the issue. It's important to follow their instructions and provide any necessary documentation or evidence they request to rectify the situation.
