I've noticed an unexpected increase in traffic to two of my domain names - favorite.club and lets.repair. My initial thought was that this could be due to an automatic connection with a messaging app like WhatsApp. It turns out that many messaging apps use automatic link generation from top-level domains (TLDs), not just the main extensions. As a result, there is now a new source of random and unplanned traffic for these TLDs. For example, a domain name that forms part of a sentence or sits at the end of one and the beginning of another can attract this type of traffic. This means that new TLDs like pizza, renovation, restaurant, etc. can gain value from these random visits. Do you have any domains that could benefit from this type of traffic?

According to experts, traffic from domain names situated in a parking lot could be directed to webpages containing malicious content. This issue arises when the owner of the domain uses a "zero click" service but does not place any ads on the page and instead redirects the traffic to another website. Due to the decline in profits from Google Ads, more and more parking service providers are using this feature, which can lead to unintended consequences.

Owners of domain names are typically unaware that their traffic can be redirected to malicious websites. Recently, Sedo, one of the biggest companies dealing with parking domains, reported similar cases where parked domains were redirected to pages impersonating Microsoft technical support and Adobe Flash Player installers. In both instances, users were lured into providing sensitive information or installing viruses on their computers.

Sedo advised its advertisers to disable zero click after the problem was reported. However, other parking companies continue to use the feature as an alternative for domains that fail to generate revenue via regular ads. It is important for domain owners to monitor the traffic from their pages and use services that allow them to disable the "zero click" function to avoid any unwanted surprises.

it's interesting to note that the automatic link generation from messaging apps can indeed result in unexpected increases in traffic for certain domain names.
This presents an opportunity for new TLDs to potentially gain value from these random visits. Domains that form part of a sentence or sit at the end of one and the beginning of another can attract this type of traffic, which can be advantageous for businesses or individuals leveraging those TLDs.
