Title: Buy a cloud server to use for online storage?
Post by: wqdqd on Jul 04, 2022, 08:55 PM
Hello guys,
I am going to buy a cloud server with minimum price and buy extra HDD disk to add to it and using them as a cloud storage. Is that a good idea?
I checked Google cloud storage or Amazon cloud storage but seem their price are very high. Needing your suggestions.

So do you need cloud storage or your own drive? Yes, such clouds can be expensive - but this is the price for an increased level of security. But to combine them with HDD disk - well, I don't know. Does this really make sense? In my opinion, it is worth deciding what is more important - price or safety.

Well, the cheapest server prices are now in Ukraine. For example - VPS.ua with a data center in Lviv - the difference with the most inexpensive European one is 20%. Simple configuration: RAM: 1 GB, Disk (SSD): 10 GB, Traffic: Unlimited. ~ $0.019/hour, $14/month The price is determined based on the constant use of one or more servers in the operating mode...

I must say right away that your idea is ..... too wasteful. Yes, it has many advantages - speed, security, but the monthly costs are high, but if you often access these files, then this may be the best idea for you. I use sync.com myself. ($6 per month for 2 TB). You can buy a lifetime cloud drive. pcloud.com will help with this issue. Cost £350 for 2TB.
