Latest Enhancements in GNOME 44 Alpha Version

If you are interested in trying out the latest updates and enhancements to the GNOME desktop environment, the alpha version of GNOME 44 is now available for testing. The new version includes a variety of bug fixes, improvements, and new features, as well as updates to Epiphany, GNOME Maps, GNOME Control Center, and Nautilus, among others.



The user interface has been modernized for ease of use and improved integration with other open-source applications. The beta release is scheduled for February 11th, 2023, with the final release planned for March 22nd, 2023. Some notable updates include Epiphany using GTK 4, libadwaita and WebKitGTK-6.0, as well as GNOME Maps adding support for getting thumbnails and Wikipedia article extracts from Wikidata. Nautilus has also been upgraded with enriched tab context menus, addressing issues such as drag-and-drop, view focus and performance problems.
