I had to change the direction of my subdomain, so I went to the panel and indicated CNAME Records. However, upon exiting, I came across an error message saying that my DNS was specified incorrectly.

It turns out that "domain management through our DNS for free" was enabled, which reset everything to initial settings. There were two A Record records for my domain and www.mydomain. I tried deleting them and changing the DNS to my hosting, but it wasn't available and I couldn't change it back.

Unfortunately, my website is now unavailable and I haven't received any response from support@webnicks. Does anyone have any suggestions or solutions for this issue?

Based on the description, it seems like you made edits to the domain zone file through the registrar's side. As a result, their DNS servers need to be registered instead of your hosting provider's.

To fix this, simply create two entries for www and origin @, and include the IP address of your site. After that, wait for about 15-20 minutes to 5-8 hours (depending on the registrar) for the DNS to settle down with the ns servers.

It's important to note that using the DNS servers of your hosting provider is recommended if you don't have a permanent dedicated IP. If you have already changed the DNS from the registrar to the hosting provider, then you'll need to make future edits through the hosting provider. This means that the registrar's DNS edit will become unavailable.

The software installed on a virtual machine plays a major role in domain zone management. Servers with a built-in control panel such as cPanel, Plesk, and more have domain zone management capabilities that are integrated into a separate menu. For instance, two popular control panels used by users are ISPmanager Lite and Vesta.

ISPmanager Lite is a popular control panel for creating websites and managing database and mail servers. It allows users to create and manage web domains, configure DNS, and edit various types of DNS records.

Vesta is no less in demand and offers the same features as ISPmanager Lite, allowing users to manage DNS zones, mail, and databases. However, if you don't use web hosting control panels, specialized software tools such as PowerDNS or BIND can be used to manage domain zones.

PowerDNS is an open-source DNS server implementation that's supported by UNIX systems and has its own web interface for managing domain zone settings. It allows you to access DNS information from various sources and is often used to balance DNS traffic for highly-loaded sites.

On the other hand, BIND is one of the most common implementations of the DNS server, which can be installed on UNIX and Windows-based servers. It doesn't have its own web interface for managing domain zone settings, but there are additional software products like Bind DNS Server Web interface that can be used instead. After editing the named.conf file and making necessary changes, the named daemon will need to be rebooted.

suggestions that might help:

1. Double-check your DNS settings: Ensure that you have correctly set up the CNAME records for your subdomain. Make sure there are no typos and that the settings match the requirements of your hosting provider.

2. Contact your hosting provider: Reach out to your hosting provider's support team directly. They should be able to assist you in resolving any DNS configuration issues or provide guidance on how to restore your website.

3. Be patient with support: Sometimes it can take a little while to receive a response from support teams. Instead of waiting for their email, consider reaching out to them via phone or live chat to get a more immediate response.

4. Seek help from technical forums or communities: Try posting your issue in relevant forums or communities where technical experts and fellow users may be able to offer insights or solutions based on their experiences.

5. Check DNS propagation: Sometimes, changes to DNS settings can take some time to propagate across the internet. Use online tools like "DNS Checker" to verify if your DNS settings have propagated correctly.

6. Clear browser cache: After making DNS changes, clearing your browser cache and refreshing the page might help in accessing your website.

7. Consider temporarily using a different subdomain or domain: If you have the option, you could try setting up a temporary subdomain or using a different domain to ensure your website remains accessible while resolving the issue with your main subdomain.

8. Escalate the issue: If you haven't received a response from the support team, consider escalating the issue by trying to contact them through an alternative email or support channel. Look for any emergency or priority support options they may provide.

9. Have a backup plan: In the meantime, it's always a good idea to have a backup of your website files and databases. This ensures that if anything goes wrong, you can quickly restore your website to a working state.

10. Reach out to your domain registrar: If you are managing your domain through a separate registrar, contact them for assistance. They may be able to help with DNS issues or guide you on how to reset your DNS settings.

11. Seek assistance from a technical consultant: If you're unable to resolve the issue on your own or with the help of support, consider reaching out to a technical consultant or expert who specializes in DNS and domain management. They can provide more advanced troubleshooting and solutions tailored to your specific situation.

12. Transfer your domain to a different provider: If all else fails, you might consider transferring your domain to a different registrar or DNS provider. This could help ensure better support and control over your DNS settings.

13. Look for alternative support channels: Besides email, check if your hosting provider offers other support channels such as live chat or phone support. Attempting to contact them through these alternative channels may result in a quicker response.

14. Consider switching hosting providers: If you are consistently experiencing issues or lack sufficient support from your current hosting provider, it might be worth considering switching to a different one that offers reliable support and better DNS management features.
