Hi everyone! My mother is interested in launching a blog that focuses on cooking and wellness.
She has requested me to create a basic website using WordPress for her. While I am exploring BlueHost as a cost-efficient choice, I also intend to provide her with a complimentary alternative.

One crucial aspect to consider is whether your mother already has an audience. If she is just starting or her target audience is relatively limited, then free hosting is a good start. WordPress offers to host sites for free, although there are some drawbacks like limitations and ads.

You can try finding other hosting services on this forum that offer ad-free hosting for free. However, if your mother has a substantial following or requires a more stable website, then paid hosting is a better option. Many hosting companies offer affordable entry-level plans that support WordPress installation. It is imperative to compare prices and find the best deal possible. I wish your mother all the best with her blog.

There is a vast array of hosting options that come with a minimal or no price tag. However, it is crucial to identify the specific objectives for your new or existing website. Hosting providers do not offer free access to their services without any underlying motives.

In most cases, you will have to tolerate the hosting provider's advertisements on your site if you settle for free hosting. Additionally, some free hosting services do not support contemporary internet technologies or have limited access to them.

It is essential to make an informed decision after considering all vital factors while choosing a hosting service.

WordPress also has the ability to create a website for free, you can use it to get started. Although, if the blog has few prospects, can it just maintain a page on social networks? It's free and there are no problems.

:) The choice depends on two conditions:
First. Is your mother serious about work or is it more of a hobby for her. Then free hosting will do.
Second. Do you take care of all the creation and maintenance of the site, or the goal is just blogging. Then it is better to focus on the paid option.

FreeHosting offers a flexible and cost-free webhosting option with unlimited speed and 50 GB storage, which is more than what other free hosting providers offer. However, unlike many of the free hosts, FreeHosting does not provide a subdomain, which has both advantages and disadvantages. While having a personalized domain name will make your website look more professional, it comes with a cost.

Similarly, GoogieHost offers CloudLinux hosting that matches all common standards for decent quality free shared web hosting. Although it might be less comparable to Hostinger and other paid services, GoogieHost can outperform its free counterparts. While GoogieHost uses subdomains like most other free hosts, you can connect your own domain name if you have one.

AwardSpace, on the other hand, allows you to host up to four websites on one free account, with only one being the main domain and the remaining three being subdomains. This would be ideal for subcategories or affiliate sites of the primary site. While AwardSpace provides automatic firewall protection, their free plan lacks an essential security feature - an SSL certificate, which is only available in the paid plans. Furthermore, the number of CMS options with AwardSpace is limited to only three.

All of this, of course, is great. If it were still possible to register there...
In the meantime, tech support replies like this:

You cannot view this attachment.

I think they tell you that they give you something for free for advertising purposes. They don't really give you anything. I guess they just don't have it.

That sounds like a great idea to explore different options for your mother's blog. BlueHost is a popular choice for WordPress hosting due to its affordability and user-friendly interface. However, there are also other cost-efficient alternatives available.

One possible complimentary alternative is using WordPress.com, which offers free hosting for basic websites. It's great for beginners and provides a simple and straightforward way to set up a website without any additional costs. With WordPress.com, your mother can focus on creating content rather than worrying about technical aspects of website maintenance.

Another option is using platforms like Blogger or Wix, which offer free website building tools and hosting services. While these platforms may have some limitations compared to WordPress, they can still be a good choice for someone starting out with a personal blog.

Ultimately, the choice depends on your mother's specific needs, budget, and technical comfort level. It's worth exploring different options before deciding on the best fit for her blog.

Blogger is a free blogging platform provided by Google. It allows users to create and publish their blogs without the need for any technical knowledge or web hosting. Here are some key features of Blogger:

1. Easy to use: Blogger offers a user-friendly interface, making it simple for beginners to set up and manage a blog. It provides various templates and customization options to personalize the blog's appearance.

2. Integration with Google services: Since Blogger is owned by Google, it seamlessly integrates with other Google services like Google Analytics, Google AdSense, and Google Search Console. This integration can provide valuable insights into blog traffic, monetization opportunities, and search engine optimization.

3. Reliable and secure hosting: With Blogger, you don't have to worry about finding a separate web host or dealing with server maintenance. Google hosts your blog on its secure servers, ensuring reliability and security.

4. Custom domain support: While Blogger provides a free subdomain (e.g., myblog.blogspot.com), it also allows users to use their custom domain names, giving the blog a more professional look.

5. Built-in monetization options: Blogger has built-in features that allow you to monetize your blog, such as integrating Google AdSense to display ads and earn revenue from your content.

Overall, Blogger is a popular choice for beginner bloggers or individuals looking for a simple and hassle-free blogging platform. It may not have as many advanced features as WordPress, but it does provide a solid foundation for sharing content and engaging with readers.
