7 Proven Ways to Get More Backlinks to Your Site
Getting high-quality backlinks is not easy. Here are six strategies to help you do this.

The more links there are to web site from high-quality sites, the better search engines treat it and the higher it ranks in the output. It is not surprising that over the years webmasters have found a huge number of ways to get such links to their web sites.
This is far from a new topic even for those who have only recently started to get acquainted with search engine promotion, and getting links from popular sites for free is not as easy now as it was a few years ago. Moreover, simply increasing the link is no longer enough — for effective promotion, search engines must see real clicks on links to your web site and record good behavioral ones. In this article, we have collected six proven strategies that will help you build a high-quality link mass in the current realities of search engine promotion.

Create viral content
A lot is changing in SEO, but interesting and useful content never goes out of fashion. Of course, "high—quality" articles can be different, but in our case the requirement is the same - they should make readers want to share content with others. To achieve this, materials must meet one, or better, several of the following criteria at once:

the article uses original or aggregated data;
the material contains a unique opinion or information;
the publication is posted on a thematic and authoritative resource.
For example, in your SEO material, you can refer to articles or guides from Yandex or Google on the topic you need. Of course, you can find other sources, but web sites of the search engines themselves in this case will be the most authoritative resources. Try to refer to such data sources — both people and search engines will appreciate it. Also, do not forget to add relevant statistical data to the articles — this will give readers additional information and increase the value of your publication. High-quality and optimized content has every chance to get into the top 5 of search results, and this greatly simplifies obtaining natural backlinks. But how does it work?

Imagine that you decided to write about link building in 2021, but there is not a single material on this topic in your blog yet. Most likely, the first thing you will do is go search for information useful to readers in Google or Yandex. Here, for sure, you will first pay attention to the first result in the search results — an article about link building on VC.

If this material is what you need, there is a considerable chance that you will refer to it in your material. So the top in the search results and allows you to get numerous natural backlinks.
Obviously, it takes time: just publishing an article in order for people to start sharing it is not enough — you still have to work for that. Therefore, this method of getting backlinks is perfectly combined with other methods that allow you to achieve the first results faster.

Engage in networking and PR
At first glance, there is not much in common between SEO and PR. However, when it comes to getting backlinks, building relationships with other webmasters, thematic web sites and the media is one of the key ways to achieve the desired results. This is another long-term strategy for getting links, but it is also of key importance for PR.

Start by communicating with people from your industry, as well as with employees of industry online publications. To do this, it is not necessary to spam in all social networks in a row — you will achieve a much better effect if you start with the formation of sincere and mutually beneficial relationships. Use social networks — Facebook, Twitter and others — to create a personal brand, communicate with people from your industry and post content.
It is not necessary to be the CEO of a company for these purposes, and the development of your own brand will definitely play into the hands of your business. When you establish a little bit of communication and promote accounts in social networks, it will become much easier to get mentions in the media. But what does this have to do with backlinks?

It's simple: if you share an expert opinion with someone, give an interview, participate in a podcast or share a case, this content will definitely appear on the site of the publisher — author of the material. You will only need to ask him to add a link to your site to the publication. Explain your request from the point of view of benefit for readers, because if you share your opinion, then the audience may want to know more about you and should be able to find you.

Of course, building relationships is a long—term process, but the game is worth the candle. Moreover, nothing prevents combining it with simpler and faster solutions, which will be discussed below.

Publish guest posts
There are many advantages in preparing articles for industry-related online publications and other platforms that interest you. Guest posts give you access to the right audience, allow you to distribute information about your brand among them and, as you already guessed, get backlinks to web site.

Now everything is not as simple as it was a few years ago. Like many other ways to get links, guest posting quickly turned into spam of non-unique and low-quality materials on any web  sites. This has led to the fact that most of the "decent" sites have requirements for the articles to be posted. The search engines themselves drew attention to this — for instance, in 2021, Google analyst John Mueller warned CEOs and marketers against publishing guest posts as a method of posting spam links. What does all this mean for us?

Just that webmasters now need to follow a couple of simple rules, and guest posting at the same time both worked and continues to work. First, post on other web sites only those articles that someone will read.
Secondly, focus on quality and value for the audience. The fact that the material will be published on another site, and not on your own web site, does not mean that less attention should be paid to it.

Use "Infographics"
Infographics are an easy way to instantly improve the quality of your content from good to truly valuable to the audience. However, it is difficult to create infographics without the necessary resources — it takes authors a lot of time, especially when they have to collect data for this themselves. For this reason, many of them find and use someone else's infographics in their materials instead of creating their own. You can use this feature to get backlinks to your web site. To do this, instead of just posting infographics on your site, use it on other sites in exchange for backlinks to your site. To denote this approach to work, Brian Deaneven introduced a separate term — "Infographics".

Of course, this will require working on the creation of infographics, but in the long term, the potential of this method of work is huge. Infographics can have the same effect as high-quality articles generating backlinks for many months.

Restore the missing links
To get backlinks, it is not always necessary to reinvent the wheel. One of the easiest ways to quickly achieve a positive result is to check your web site for missing links. Losing hard-won backlinks can be frustrating, but it's often not as difficult to get them back as it might seem. They can disappear for many reasons — because of a problem with the donor page itself (for instance, because of a 404 error), the appearance of a redirect on such a page, or because the author deleted the link for some reason.

Whatever the case, it's worth taking a little time and trying to return the loss to its former place. In the end, the link to your site did not appear so easily, and the owner of another web  site may not even be aware that the donor page you need has been deleted for some reason.

To find missing links you can use tools like Ahrefs, SEMrush or Moz. Each of them has all the possibilities for this. If it turns out that some links to your site have really disappeared, you will only have to contact the owners of the sites.
The easiest way to do this is via email. When contacting webmasters, try to make your message as brief as possible - just tell them about the missing link and a possible error, and also mention why your material is still valuable. Of course, you may not get an answer at all. However, even if this method allows you to restore one of the ten missing links, it is already worth using it.

Find mentions without links
Another easy way to quickly achieve the desired result is to search for mentions of your brand. When someone speaks positively about you, it's a great opportunity to get a backlink from them. If someone mentions you on another web site, most likely they already see some value in your product or service, which means it won't be so difficult to convince them to link to your site. Moreover, it can also be useful to visitors of his web site if they want to learn more about you.

To find pages that mention your brand, use Google's advanced search and social media analysis tools — for instance, Brandments, Mention, Google Alerts, etc. If the name of your brand matches some word or phrase, try to narrow down the search using other keywords that characterize your solution or field of work.

If you find a mention of your brand without a link, contact the author by email and ask him to link to your web site.
In this case, again, it is better to formulate the request in such a way that the potential benefits for readers are clear from it.
