I am gathering opinions on how it would be better to make that tag for the main page, with or without a slash:

<link rel="canonical" href="" />

<link rel="canonical" href="" />
your arguments?
This is so that ill-wishers do not generate duplicates of the main page, using engine inaccuracies or hosting features.

Don't bother. For your server, both options are with a slash. Because the root directory. It's the same for SEs.
I have it done with a slash everywhere, but I don't have any justification for why, I just probably got confused about 5-8 years ago, analyzed competitors, came to the conclusion that the majority have it, and I've been doing it for many years ..

For those who are used to blowing on the water (I'm also one of those), it's better to do as the server sends and see the SEs accordingly.
Because now it makes no difference, but tomorrow they will introduce something, change it, and it will appear.
