How much money do I need to invest in the Hosting?

I want to open a reliable hosting with a server in USA.
Rent or colocation server, good admin, advertising. what else do I need to start, provided that I myself can't administer the server (it's not mine), but I have money, I can borrow advertising, promotion, sit in WhatsApp as a consultant, etc. if it comes of course) or first try yourself as a reseller?

May be a dumb question, sorry if so.

Question is not stupid at all, you should always realistically assess your capabilities. First, decide on geo-targeting and market niche. 24/7 - minimum 4 admins, salary for each depending on where you live.
Again, the office and all current costs. Are you going to enter the foreign market?

Consider a hosting management system, buying something pre-made is expensive and increases costs. to develop your own - to you as a beginner - is even more expensive. Payment acceptance system.
Again, the website ... You can't do without the development costs either in-house or custom IMHO, since it's always convenient to do everything for yourself and only your requirements. My bet - cook from 60,000 USD. Unless of course you are going to close for the 3rd month. I will gladly answer all questions.

The question is difficult, but correct. Beginners often make the same mistakes - they do not weigh their real capabilities. After your post, I immediately had a question - you want to open a web hosting, but you cannot administer it. This means that you have only minimal knowledge regarding the development and configuration of web hosting processes. This means that you want to act as an entrepreneur - a person who opens a business.

Here I would recommend you to cooperate with other private individuals who want to expand their business (web hoster), but do not have sufficient funds. Just if without technical knowledge you want to open a hosting (physical / local), then you will need a very decent amount of funds. Add to that the fact that you need permissions and stuff.
I opened a server in Europe - from 0 to a working hosting company. It took me $72,000 (three server machines)

As a rule, such budget webhosting services are used by people who need not so much high quality services, but low price.
So, they continue to use the services. Meanwhile, I tried to smooth out all the problems that arise by providing 1-3 months of hosting for free. But of course, no matter what, I lost a lot of clients.

If a person is not a professional (meaning when this is the first experience of running his own business), then with a probability very close to one, he can burn out and lose everything he has invested. I mean, when it comes to fairly large investments (renting/buying an office, recruiting a large number of staff, etc., etc.).
Again, there are quite a lot of people who do not want to invest money from the initial capital in market research, in a normal business plan. I have several friends who started out like you, "very slowly and painfully," and as a result, over a certain number of years they have achieved good results. But, such people from the category of fanatics were initially devoted to this "hobby". So it seems to me that you are moving in the right direction.

The average cost to rent a small business dedicated server is $100 to $200/month. You can also setup a cloud server starting at $5/month, but most businesses would spend about $40/month to have adequate resources. If you wanted to purchase a server for your office, it may cost between $1000-$3000 for a small business.
