Could you recommend a Linux VPS with Ubuntu operating system that is both cheap and dependable?
Thank you very much!

How much do you consider as affordable? I'm asking because some VPS's can be purchased for as low as $2, but the question then arises: are they reliable?
If your budget is around $10, there are many providers in this price range such as Digital Ocean, Vultr, and Linode. However, if this is still too high for you, you can check out lowendtalk.com for providers in the under $5 market.

I prefer VPS Mart due to their use of Hyper/V over KVM and their reliability. The only drawback is that if you need to reinstall the operating system, you have to open a support ticket. Additionally, they don't have a Rescue Mode option that allows you to perform tasks on your own - again, you would have to open a support ticket. You can check out their regular pricing at https://www.vps-mart.com/linux-vps and their biggest sale of the year is on Black Friday.
I use VPS Mart for both Ubuntu and Windows Server, on separate VPS's of course.

Here are the advantages of using Ubuntu instead of Windows on a web server:

- Price: Ubuntu is free, unlike Windows that requires a costly license. Additionally, open-source software options are more extensive for Unix systems than for Microsoft operating systems, which saves you money.
- Versatility: Ubuntu works well with almost all languages, web servers like nginx and Apache, scripts, databases like MySQL and PostgreSQL, network protocols (including SSH), etc. The only drawback is that you can't use it if your project is on ASP.NET.
- Flexibility: Ubuntu allows you to fine-tune all parameters for maximum customization and optimization, making it suitable for even the most specific needs.
- Resource consumption: A VPS Windows Server rental demands expensive hardware configuration, but you can save money by choosing an economical Unix system like Ubuntu.

Compared to other Unix-like operating systems like Debian and CentOS, Ubuntu has several advantages:

- User-friendly: Installing, configuring, and managing Ubuntu is easier than its counterparts, giving you the best solution for learning the Linux family.
- Updates: Ubuntu is updated regularly every 6 months or 2 years and supported for up to 4-5 years, providing fresh solutions. In contrast, CentOS and Debian are slower with new features.
- Community: Ubuntu has commercial support and an extensive community, both of which are helpful for getting answers to questions about renting and setting up a virtual server.
- Working with components: Ubuntu comes with a comprehensive set of drivers and firmware already installed, including closed-source ones. In contrast, installing components on Debian requires time and effort.
- Containerization: Ubuntu is suitable for running a virtual web server with Docker and Kubernetes, making it the perfect operating system for container and cloud deployments.

Although Ubuntu is great for hosting, it's not the most stable and secure option. It's best to evaluate your project's specific needs before selecting the software.
