To create visually appealing content for a new website, I require a significant amount of images. It's easy to locate photos featuring Schwarzenegger; however, legal complications could arise. To avoid any potential legal issues such as lawsuits, payments and fines, it is imperative that we take the necessary precautions to ensure that we have the rights to use these images.

While I have no intention of claiming exclusivity for these images, I do plan to credit their source appropriately. What legal considerations should we keep in mind as we move forward with this?

If the individuals in question are indeed the copyright holders of the images, it may be worth negotiating with them. However, if they have no real claim to the posted photos, then their objections are baseless. Personally, I believe that these individuals are simply trying to exert control where they have none. In order to avoid potential legal issues, I would indicate the source of the images in plain text without a link or any agreements. This will mitigate the risk of any potential disputation with the author.

If you require photos on various topics, there are numerous photo stocks available, both paid and free. One such free resource is https://pixabay.com. When using free resources, it's important to carefully review the notes concerning authorship requirements and the specific types of licenses associated with each image. If an image is available without attribution requirements, it can be used for commercial purposes without issue.

If you need photos featuring Schwarzenegger specifically, you may choose to reach out to him personally and request permission to use his materials, which can often be found on his Instagram account. It's critical to avoid taking someone else's work without prior consent. This is the most important legal consideration when it comes to using any type of content, including photos.

An important point in posting other people's photos on your site is that (!) the absence of a prohibition is not a permission to use photos. You can freely take photos with a conditionally confirmed license from universal stocks, such as 'Unsplash', 'Wikimedia Commons', 'Public Domain Photos' and many others. If you use photos taken from a source that does not imply free use, then there may be corresponding problems, especially if your resource becomes popular and involves some kind of profit. :-\

Freepik offers 7,692,000 top-quality photos, more than 3.7 million vector illustrations, and around 300 thousand PSD templates. While these images can be used for free, there are significant restrictions in place. For instance, if you want to use a Freepik photo on your website, you must include the Designed by Freepik attribution link. To remove all links and utilize the graphics in an unlimited manner, you must purchase a subscription. Premium accounts provide extensive opportunities, but they are also quite pricey, resembling the cost of popular paid stock subscriptions over a one-month period.

When it comes to featuring images of public figures like Schwarzenegger, there are several legal considerations that must be taken into account to avoid potential copyright issues.

First and foremost, you need to ensure that you have the right to use these images. Simply locating photos online does not automatically grant you the legal right to use them. For images featuring Schwarzenegger or any other public figure, you should be aware of the concept of "right of publicity." This means that individuals have the right to control the commercial use of their name, image, and likeness. Using such images without the proper authorization could result in legal consequences.

To avoid potential legal issues, it is advisable to obtain permission from the copyright holder or the individual depicted in the images. This could involve reaching out to the appropriate rights holders or using stock photo websites that offer licensed images for commercial use. Additionally, utilizing images that are labeled for reuse with modification under Creative Commons licenses can provide a legal framework for using the images on your website.
It's important to remember that even if you do not intend to claim exclusivity for these images, you still need to consider the legalities of their usage. Properly crediting the source of the images is a good practice, but it does not absolve you from obtaining the necessary permissions to use them. In some cases, providing attribution may not be sufficient to comply with copyright and right of publicity laws.

There are several reputable sites where you can source images for your website while adhering to legal and ethical guidelines. Some of the most popular stock photo websites that offer licensed images for commercial use include Shutterstock, Adobe Stock, iStock by Getty Images, and Unsplash. These platforms provide a vast selection of high-quality photographs, illustrations, and graphics that can enhance the visual appeal of your website.

For images labeled for reuse with modification under Creative Commons licenses, you can explore websites such as Flickr, Pixabay, and Pexels. These platforms host a wide range of images that are available for use under specific conditions, such as providing attribution to the original creators.
