The hosting hosts all the files of your site, both technical and new pages, content. It is important that the hosting is reliable, provides round-the-clock technical support, protects against hаcker attacks, and also provides a number of additional services, such as dedicated servers for hosting large projects. There are many thematic sites on the Internet where you can learn more about the features of hosting and where you can order the best and inexpensive hosting.

You rent part of the capacity or the entire server from the hosting provider. The site files will be stored there - pictures, text, videos, tables and everything that is visible in the browser. The hosting company also helps set up hosting, protects files from cyberattacks, and physical media from fires and other incidents. In general, no site will work without hosting.

Hosting is a service that allows you to store information on a server (second in importance after choosing a website domain). The server stores databases, backups, resource pages, and so on. The need for the service arises because the information that is in the virtual storage is more convenient to manage. You do not have to keep the computer constantly on, and not every hardware part can withstand such a load.

Hosting is needed to host your sites. Hosting servers host all the data of your resource, protected from system files and loaded with content. For me, the most important thing in hosting is its stable operation, if the site is unavailable from time to time, then this is a sure sign of a change in hosting. It is interesting that at present you can find not only paid, but also free hosting for hosting small sites, but paid hosting is of better quality.

In a simple way, hosting is a computer that works around the clock and your website is stored on this computer. We can say that this is a service that physically places the site pages on the server. Your home computer may not have enough power and there will be no stable Internet. Therefore, if you place your sites on your home computer, it will hang and load for a long time. And for users, this is not good.

An internet service that allows you to publish your website or web application online is called web hosting. When you sign up for a hosting, you just borrow capacity on a server where you can store the files and data you need for your website to function properly.

Many wrote what hosting is for, although by and large it performs only one function. Why are websites created? To get people to know about you or to promote your thoughts and ideas (if we are talking about a blog). Nobody forbids doing all this from your home computer. Your home PC can also act as a host. It turns out that hosting is a place where pictures, page and style codes, as well as the main text for the site are stored. (these days there are builders that make it easy to create a site).
In fact, hosting is a space for placing various information. At the same time, the hosting itself can already be divided into dedicated, shared or virtual, which differ both in their capacity and in access to them.
The hosting owner is called the hosting company or hoster. For a beginner, the main thing is to have 24/7 technical support that will help solve customer issues.

Hosting can be fully functional or with limited functionality. The latter include the following main types:

File hosting is a service for providing file storage, in which the provider allocates you a place to store information in the form of files, ensures their security, remote access, etc.
Mail hosting is a service that ensures the operation of a private mail system that is devoid of advertising banners, has a certain protection against spam mailings, has one or more of its own domain names and works according to the most common mail transfer protocols (SMTP, IMAP, Pop3)
DNS hosting is a hosting service that provides a system for storing domain name records
Wiki hosting — web hosting that provides servers with tools for creating and managing your own independent wiki pages
Game hosting is the provision of various types of servers for organizing multiplayer online games.
Full-featured types of hosting include hosting, a service that allows individuals and organizations to create and host their own sites on the Internet.

Types of hosting:
Free hosting. This type of web hosting is provided by different hosting providers for free and has very limited functionality. In addition, in most cases, advertising is present on websites hosted on free servers and the proper level of security is not provided.

Virtual hosting. Virtual web hosting is based on the principle of storing multiple client sites on a single provider server, and some minimal set of options is also provided. Thus, you are allocated the amount of the provider's disk space, a limited amount of RAM and some kind of control panel for your website. Such site hosting is widely used for small web projects that do not require powerful resources to function.

Virtual dedicated server. The principle of operation of a virtual dedicated server is based on the fact that the web  hosting provider provides you with a place on its physical server for a virtual server with a specific operating system that you use and administer. You can use the virtual server as you like, install the services, applications and other add-ons you need on it within the framework of what the physical resource and the operating system allow.

Dedicated server. This type of hosting provides for an active pledge of an entire physical server. You have full control over the server, choose the operating system and other software for it yourself, administer it, the provider ensures the uninterrupted operation of the server, its physical safety, constant access to the Internet.

Equipment placement is web hosting, in which you are provided with a place for your equipment, usually in the provider's datacenter.
The equipment may consist of one or more servers, routers, hubs, etc. In fact, you rent a part of this datacenter, put your equipment there or rent it from a provider and administer it at the software and physical level. The provider ensures the physical safety of the equipment, access to it for technical work, uninterrupted operation of the power supply and Internet access.

Cloud hosting. This type of web hosting is based on cluster resource usage and cloud computing (Infrastructure as a Service model, IaaS — infrastructure as a Service). Cluster resource usage is based on using several provider computers at once to deploy a project. In other words, you are provided with all the necessary computing resources to solve your specific tasks, and payment is made according to the actual power consumed.

There are also hybrid hosting models that mix the properties of the above types of web hosting.
