Hosting is the main link in the chain that you will use in the future. So before you start, study carefully all its advantages and disadvantages. After all, hosting tools will affect your created site. It's like choosing a good house to live in.

Hosting, in its most generic sense, is a service through which storage and computing resources are providing to an individual or organization for the accommodation and maintenance of one or more websites and related services. While hosting doesn't need to be IP-based, the vast majority of instances are web-based services that allow a website or web service to be globally accessible from the Internet.

I would like to add that now hosting can already include not only website support, but also provide additional services, the list of which is getting wider. It all depends on what kind of hosting is meant.

I would say that hosting is like being in a restaurant with a menu offered to you. Only the taste of the dish you choose will depend on you. The site means this taste should please the visitor. Be careful with your choice.

With the right web hosting provider, your business web site can be much easier than you think. There are so many web based design tools and marketing tools included in web hosting packages, that you really don't need to know much about html, programming, or otherwise.
Sport helps to get rid of all the bad habits!

Look at your current usage and double it at least, triple is even better because coming half way through the month and running out of bandwidth is probable the worst thing you can do for your website, your users will probable desert you, if they see it isn't online for a day or two.

What epithets and comparisons people have written about what hosting is. Anyone who encounters this for the first time might think that hosting is something complicated, and it takes days or even hours to choose a site for the future placement of the site, but in reality everything is much simpler. When choosing hosting, you should understand that two companies can provide the same service for the same amount, but their quality will vary greatly. Three elephants of a good hosting: 24/7 availability to the resource, fast response of technical support, and it is possible to coordinate the space that you rented (CMS, FTP, etc.)

Hosting is a way of placing a site on the Internet. Once you have placed your site on a server - anyone can access it by typing the domain name in the browser line. The site can be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Hosting is inextricably linked with domain names. If the domain is responsible for the "beautiful address" of the site, then all the content that the browser receives is stored and processed on the hosting provider's servers (at least most of it, if you do not take into account a number of specific solutions, such as CDN).
In general, no one forbids hosting a website on any computer connected to the Internet. And hosting does not always work only with websites, it can be all kinds of services and applications, including email, backups, databases, etc.
Why is hosting a server at home, for example, on a balcony or under a table, a bad idea? Because not everyone can organize fault-tolerant operation of equipment, it will take too much effort and money.

Traditionally , the following types of hosting sites are distinguished:

Shared (shared or virtual) – implies maximum convenience for customers, since all the basic hardware and software settings have already been made "turnkey". But in fact, all sites work on the same physical server and share its resources among themselves (therefore it is "shared").

The VPS client is allocated all the necessary resources, which he can dispose of as he pleases (install the selected operating system, configure the necessary services, store data, etc.), but in fact these resources are virtual. Thanks to virtualization technology, the provider can flexibly distribute the resources of its physical equipment between virtual servers, which allows significant savings.

Dedicated Server (VDS). A real physical server is completely at your disposal without any reservations and nuances. At the same time, it is not necessary to acquire ownership of it, it is enough to pay for its use.

Colocation is when a physical server is acquired by the client. The hosting provider can "shelter" the equipment in his rack and connect it to his infrastructure. The client undertakes to pay for these benefits: access channel, power, maintenance, upgrade, monitoring, etc.

Cloud hosting. This is an improved version of the VPS. If in the case of VPS, the hosting provider optimizes the operation of its hardware to minimize costs (so as not to assemble a dedicated server), then in the case of cloud hosting, a high-performance distributed structure is being built that allows configuration changes and balancing on the fly. At the same time, highly loaded projects can dynamically attract the necessary computing power without overpaying for the physical component. It is profitable and simple for large web projects.

It should be understood that virtual and physical web servers can not necessarily be used only for working with sites. They can be used for any other tasks, for example, for organizing a VPN, personal cloud storage, for games, etc.
There are no restrictions other than the resources allocated.
