HOW TO ADD MEMORY TO A VIRTUAL SERVER?

Hello. The question is this: there is a virtual server with a certain amount of memory, we decided to add another 50 gigabytes. Tell me what commands you need to specify so that the virtual machine sees that the free space has increased.

If we are talking about memory, just restart the server. If we are talking about a disk, you need to resize the partition, and then "stretch" the fs on top of this partition. Simple commands can be found in Google without problems by requesting linux disk resize.

Or just load a virtual server with a live cd image, for example, gparted.

Good luck.

As we wrote above, most often a normal reboot is enough. In general, it depends more not on virtualization, but on the hoster itself. For someone it happens automatically, for someone it has to be done manually, others may refuse this operation altogether. In fact, I wouldn't do it myself, of course it's better if you contact someone who understands this.

Hello.

If you are talking about memory, you need to restart the server.
If you are talking about a disk, you need to resize the partition, and then "stretch" the fs over this partition.
In addition to the answers, I would advise you NOT to do such an upgrade yourself. Since, there are a lot of small nuances, non-observance of which can lead to the loss of all data. It is better to consult and seek help from a hoster or a competent specialist.

The standard increase in volume size is done by the provider itself at the request of its client.
But, if basic administration is not included in the price, you will need to make a disk recycle yourself.
To do this, you need to connect an additional disk "gparted" to the server, which is suitable for all unix systems, after connecting to the server via Gparted, you can mark up the disk area.

For Windows systems, everything is much simpler, increasing the disk size is done through the disk setup wizard, while connecting additional programs is not required.
