Is it preferable to register a domain with a registrar or a hosting provider? Specifically interested in a *.com domain.

Have any of you had experience with thehost.ua for hosting services and registering *.com domains?

Choosing a registrar is the preferable option. This way, if you need to change hosts, transferring the domain names won't be a hassle.

I once bought a domain through a hosting provider and later decided to switch to a different host. However, when attempting to transfer the domain, I encountered difficulties with R01 and had to endure a lengthy process involving trips to the post office and paper letters.

To avoid a similar fate, it's best to choose a registrar on your own terms.

Here are some popular domain name registrars with brief descriptions of each:

One.com is a UK-based, innovative provider of web hosting services that was founded in Denmark in 2002. Today, it is one of the leading companies in Europe providing domain names and web hosting services, with over 1.5 million customers in 149 countries and more than 270 employees.

Namecheap.com is a well-known and popular domain name registrar in the USA, founded in 2000 with a focus on Internet accessibility for everyone. It is one of the best ICANN-certified domain name registrars and a hosting company, managing over 5 million domain names with a customer base of 2 million people.

Gandi.net, based in France, was one of the first domain name registrars approved by ICANN for several top-level domains in the country. The company offers more than 600 top-level domains for registration and is known as an ethical domain name registrar that puts its customers' rights and privacy above all else. It holds the first place among domain name registrars in France and is among the ten largest in Europe.

When it comes to registering a domain, you can choose to register it with a domain registrar or a hosting provider. Both options have their advantages and disadvantages, so it depends on your specific needs and preferences.

A domain registrar is a company that specializes in registering and managing domain names. They typically offer a wide range of domain extensions (.com, .net, .org, etc.) and allow you to easily manage your domain settings, such as DNS records, email forwarding, and domain transfers. Registrars usually charge an annual fee for domain registration.

On the other hand, a hosting provider is a company that offers web hosting services. Some hosting providers also offer domain registration as part of their services. If you're planning to host your website with a specific hosting provider, it might be convenient to register your domain with them. This way, you can manage both your hosting and domain settings in one place.

.com is one of the most popular and widely recognized top-level domains (TLDs) used for commercial purposes. There are several reputable domain registrars where you can register a .com domain. Some popular options include:

1. GoDaddy: One of the largest domain registrars with a wide range of services and competitive pricing.

2. Namecheap: Known for its affordable prices, user-friendly interface, and strong customer support.

3. Google Domains: Offers a straightforward domain registration process with transparent pricing and integration with other Google services.

4. Bluehost: A popular web hosting provider that also offers domain registration services, including .com domains.

5. Domain.com: Provides a variety of domain extensions, including .com, along with additional features like DNS management and website building tools.
