Webhosting limits for sending emails

Hey there, currently I'm using hosting that has certain limits - 100 emails per hour and 1000 emails per day. While I haven't exceeded these limits yet, it's possible that I may in the future, especially if I include email notifications or other transactional messages, as well as subscriptions to news and newsletters. The hosting provider recommends switching to a vps which doesn't have these limitations.

However, even sending emails via stmp has its own limits which could pose a problem. Implementing a delayed sending system (queues) may also not be ideal since there are important messages like password recovery that need to be sent immediately. Paid mailing services are an alternative to explore, but they may not be more cost-effective than switching to a vps.

I'm seeking advice on how to best approach this issue. What are some common solutions in such cases? I would love to hear about your experiences and insights into this matter. Thank you!

Consider getting a VPS for as low as $1 and use it to send emails instead. This way, you won't have to modify your current hosting setup. I can provide you with the sendmail configuration if needed, since it's not complicated.

It's worth noting that while using a VPS eliminates email sending limits, it may require more technical knowledge to maintain. Additionally, security and reliability should also be taken into account when choosing a VPS provider.

Email sending via SMTP server is subject to several restrictions, including a limit of 60 emails per second per connection to the server. Only up to 100 email recipient addresses are allowed, and the maximum size for sent emails is set at 25 MB*. Other restrictions include no more than 32 simultaneous connections from one IP to certain ports, and no more than 500 emails per hour from both a mailbox and a domain.

When using sendmail scripts, the limit for the maximum number of emails per one hour from one account is set to 1000. During the test period, stricter measures against spam have been implemented, such as the unavailability of sendmail scripts (including via SMTP) and a limit of no more than 10 emails per hour from the domain with a maximum of 5 recipients for each email.

It's important to adhere to these restrictions to maintain reliable email delivery and minimize potential technical issues. Additionally, implementing anti-spam measures like captcha verification and sender authentication can help prevent abuse of email sending services.

The current email limits on your hosting plan can present challenges as your communication needs grow. The provider's recommendation of switching to a VPS is a reasonable option, as it removes the immediate limitations. However, it's essential to delve deeper into potential long-term solutions that can effectively handle increasing email volumes and ensure timely delivery, especially for critical messages like password recovery.

One common and effective solution is to leverage third-party email delivery services such as SendGrid, Amazon SES, or Mailgun. These platforms are designed to handle large email volumes, offer robust delivery infrastructure, and often provide flexible pricing based on actual usage. By integrating one of these services into your system, you can bypass the constraints of your current hosting environment and gain the ability to scale your email sending capacity as needed.

In scenarios where immediate delivery of critical emails is crucial, a hybrid approach can be beneficial. By routing non-critical emails through your hosting provider and using a third-party service for time-sensitive transactional emails, you can strike a balance between immediate delivery and efficient use of resources. This approach ensures that essential communications like password resets are delivered without delay, while still utilizing the resources of your hosting environment for less time-sensitive messages.

When evaluating the best approach, it's essential to perform a detailed cost-benefit analysis. Compare the potential expenses of upgrading to a VPS with the costs associated with using a third-party email delivery service. Consider factors such as long-term scalability, maintenance efforts, and the reliability of each option. Understanding the anticipated growth in your email sending needs and aligning it with the capabilities and pricing models of different solutions is crucial for making an informed decision.

In my experience, a comprehensive assessment of your current and projected email sending requirements, coupled with a thorough analysis of the available solutions, will help you identify the most suitable path forward. Should you require further guidance or support in implementing these solutions, feel free to reach out for assistance.

For individual Gmail accounts, the daily send limit is 500 emails per rolling 24-hour period. If you're a typical Gmail user, you may not even know about this limit because it's doubtful you send that many emails in a typical day.

Web hosting limits for sending emails typically include restrictions on the number of emails sent per hour or day to prevent spamming and maintain server performance, affecting email marketing and communication strategies.
