Title: Looking for webserver
Post by: prctshplc on Sep 14, 2022, 12:02 AM
Hey there,
I'm in search of a Xeon web server with a few specific features. I require at least 8 cores, 32 GB RAM and a 240 GB SSD. I would prefer disks with speeds of 1 GB/s or u2 disks, or 4 disks in raid 0. Additionally, the internet channel should have an input and output of 10 Gbit along with a limit of approximately 200 TB/month.

Furthermore, it's vital that the server comes equipped with a Firewall. The Firewall must have a separate piece of hardware, which can hold about 100 rules.
Lastly, I need this server to be located in Europe.

Actually, E3 is intended more for workstations rather than fully functional servers, similar to the Xeon.
If you are looking towards the Xeon E5600 series, I suggest considering the E5645 model. This option would provide 24 cores per server and is offered at a comparable price point. Additionally, the E5645 processor has the most optimal price/performance index of the entire 56 series when compared to the cost of new processors.

It's worth mentioning that the 55 and 56 series are still being manufactured, so replacing components shouldn't be an issue for quite some time.

In terms of hardware, we're talking about a powerhouse with at least 8 cores, 32 GB RAM, and a 240 GB SSD. Just like a master chef needs the finest ingredients, your server demands disks with speeds of 1 GB/s or U2 disks, or 4 disks in RAID 0 to ensure optimal data handling.

And when it comes to internet speed, we're not just talking fast; we're talking warp speed! Your server requires an input and output of 10 Gbit, all while maintaining a monthly traffic limit of around 200 TB. It's like giving your server a VIP lane on the information superhighway.

Now, for the vital part – security. Think of the Firewall as the bouncer at an exclusive club. Your server needs a separate piece of hardware that can hold about 100 rules, making sure only the right traffic gets through. This is like having a top-notch security team protecting your website 24/7.

Location matters! Your server needs to be in Europe, ensuring swift and seamless connectivity for your European audience.

Additionally, cloud service providers like AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure have data centers located in various European countries. They offer a wide range of server configurations and excellent network performance, making them viable options for hosting your Xeon web server in Europe.

Lastly, dedicated server hosting companies such as OVH, Hetzner, and Leaseweb have data centers in multiple European locations, providing robust hardware and customizable server options to suit your specific needs.

Evaluate the server's features, such as control panel options, security measures, and scalability options. Ensure the server can accommodate your current needs and can grow with your business.
