My future plan is to establish a web studio. Can I achieve this goal without the help of Windows and Photoshop?

Usually, when creating a design from psd files, can the work be arranged on *nix systems?

I find it strange that some professionals in the woodworking industry would choose to use old and worn-out tools over newer ones specifically designed for their job. While it's understandable that they may want to save money, the quality of their work and the potential safety hazards should also be taken into consideration. Investing in high-quality, well-designed tools can ultimately lead to better work and more efficient use of time.

I've heard that it's possible to run the installation of Photoshop CS using Wine on Linux, but I haven't tried it myself yet.

While it's easy to go without Windows, it's difficult to work in the design industry without Photoshop. However, there are certain versions of Portable FSH that work well under Wine, making it possible to use Photoshop on Linux operating systems. It's worth experimenting with this setup if you're interested in using Photoshop on a non-Windows platform. Additionally, there are many alternative image editing software options available for Linux, such as GIMP and Krita, which may suit your needs.

I've successfully installed Photoshop CS5 using Wine, and it runs smoothly without any issues. However, I'm unsure about whether or not it's possible to do color separation using this setup.

It's worth noting that PlayOnLinux also has an installation icon for Photoshop CS5, indicating that it should run well without any major problems. While there may be some limitations when it comes to using Adobe software on non-Windows platforms, these alternative options such as Wine and PlayOnLinux can be helpful workarounds. As always, it's a good idea to do your research and perhaps experiment with different setups to find what works best for you.

Yes, you can definitely achieve your goal of establishing a web studio without the help of Windows and Photoshop. There are several alternatives available for both operating systems and design software that can be used on *nix systems.

For operating systems, Linux distributions like Ubuntu, Fedora, and Debian are popular choices for web development. These distributions provide a powerful and flexible environment for building websites and web applications.

As for design software, there are many options available that can replace Photoshop on *nix systems. GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) is a highly regarded open-source alternative to Photoshop that offers similar functionality. Other notable alternatives include Krita, Inkscape, and Scribus.

These software tools, along with the wide range of available *nix system options, should provide you with the necessary resources to establish a successful web studio without relying on Windows and Photoshop.

*nix systems are more than capable of handling web design tasks. You can use free and open-source alternatives like GIMP, Krita, or Inkscape for graphic design, and web development can be done using popular frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js on Linux.
Additionally, you can use tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD for UI/UX design, which are all cross-platform compatible. You can work seamlessly on *nix systems, creating designs from PSD files using GIMP or Krita, and then converting them to web-friendly formats like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
