Hey there!)

Is it a bad idea to have a blog on websites that offer services or products?

I mean, having the blog on the same domain as the business site.

Maybe someone has some articles where they tried this out :)

Like having a fully functioning blog while still maintaining good service pages.

The blog complements commercial requests without interfering with them, and is widely used by many online stores and service sites for comprehensive promotion.

While the information traffic may be significantly lower, there are solid advantages to having professional and user-oriented content. The only drawback is the cost of creating such a blog.

If there are any doubts or concerns, it is possible to host the blog on a separate subdomain or even a separate domain. However, maintaining such a design can be more challenging and therefore more costly.

As an example, we have our own Internet marketing blog. It helps us to establish our expertise, differentiate ourselves from competitors, increase awareness in the professional community, and also generates some customers. Our blog is on a separate domain, but this was not a deliberate decision, rather a historical feature. The blog was established before the agency and was given a different name.

Having a blog for a website that offers services or goods is not only safe but also remarkably essential, as it generates substantial traffic that can be converted into orders. The crucial rule here is to fill the blog with captivating content, avoiding generic SEO texts. This advice may sound repetitive since it is often mentioned in similar discussions, but allow me to provide an example based on our experience with a development and promotion blog, just like our colleagues have done.

Our blog page ranks as the fourth most visited among all other pages, and even articles published more than two years ago are still attracting users. This influx of informational traffic eventually converts visitors into potential customers who explore the services we offer.

Let's consider another example. One of our clients requested a comparative analysis with a competitor in the "tarot cards" niche. This competitor, a prominent online store offering related products, had a significant portion of their site's organic traffic (more than 40%) originating from informational queries that directed visitors to their blog. Their blog covered various topics like different card varieties, detailed rituals, and other engaging content, all the while incorporating internal links to relevant goods, resulting in additional orders.

To summarize, if you possess the drive and ability to consistently produce high-quality content, then having a blog is undoubtedly beneficial! It not only attracts traffic but also increases the likelihood of generating sales.

In my subjective opinion, the success of a commercial website depends on several factors: the specific site itself, its target audience, the loyalty of that audience, and the overall reputation of the site.

If these factors align well, there is a good chance to attract and retain a significant portion of the audience. This can potentially lead to converting them into paying customers. However, if a website is blacklisted by search engines, it will significantly reduce its traffic and deprive itself of potential visitors.

It's important to carefully consider these factors and ensure that a website has a positive reputation and is not hindered by search engine penalties. Ultimately, optimizing these aspects can greatly impact the success of a commercial website.

I consider this to be a positive experience because a significant amount of SEO content originates from the blog. Some of it aligns with your target, while some does not.

Additionally, if your blog is effectively integrated into the website, it will facilitate easy navigation to other sections and eventually encourage purchases of products or services.

There are also benefits to utilizing popular third-party blog engines, such as increased page views through cross-links, feeds, and recommendations. However, the conversion rate to your services will likely be lower.

Furthermore, promoting the popularity of your own domain will result in higher search engine rankings without the need for advertising.

Overall, I believe that developing a blog on your website is a justified and correct strategy!

Blog can be a powerful tool for content marketing, which is crucial for driving traffic, building brand awareness, and establishing authority in your industry. By creating valuable, informative content related to your products or services, you can attract potential customers who are researching solutions to their problems.

Second, hosting your blog on the same domain as your main website can help with search engine optimization (SEO). Search engines tend to favor sites with more content, and a regularly updated blog can contribute to a higher domain authority, which can boost your rankings for relevant keywords.

A blog can humanize your brand and foster a deeper connection with your audience. By sharing insights, industry news, and behind-the-scenes glimpses, you can create a more personal and engaging experience for your visitors, which can ultimately lead to increased trust and loyalty.

However, it's important to maintain a clear separation between your blog and your core business pages. Your blog should have its own distinct section or subdomain (e.g., blog.yoursite.com) to avoid confusion and ensure a seamless user experience. Additionally, your blog content should be high-quality, well-written, and consistently published to maintain reader interest and credibility.

Many successful companies, such as HubSpot, Moz, and Shopify, have integrated blogs into their main websites, and they've seen significant benefits in terms of traffic, lead generation, and brand awareness.

Of course, there are also examples of businesses that have chosen to host their blogs on separate domains or platforms, such as Medium or WordPress.com. This approach can be beneficial if you want to maintain a stronger separation between your blog and your business site, or if you prefer to leverage the built-in communities and features of dedicated blogging platforms.
