Challenges with Domain Control and Payment Options

Hello everyone,

I came across a perplexing issue regarding a domain I registered back in 2009. Initially, I could access the domain control panel by following the link blablabla.myorderbox.com, which allowed me to renew the domain.

However, in recent years, all payment options have vanished from the panel. When I click on 'extend for a year', the payment options fail to appear, and instead, it instructs me to contact a specific email in case of any issues. I reached out as instructed and managed to extend the domain through this contact.

But now, they seem to have disappeared and are unresponsive. It's evident that this individual was acting as an intermediary, but how can I ascertain which company they were representing? I need to either transfer the domain or notify the company about the disappearance of their intermediary and arrange to be assigned a new one.

How do I navigate this situation effectively?

It's important to try to gather as much information as possible about the intermediary and the company they were representing. Look through any past communication or dоcumentation you may have and see if there are any clues or details about the company. Additionally, you can use domain lookup tools to find information about the domain registrar and their contact details. This may give you some leads on who to reach out to for assistance.

In parallel, it's important to assess the urgency of the situation. If the domain is crucial to your online presence, it might be worth seeking legal advice to understand your rights and options for transferring the domain.

Here's a detailed plan to navigate this situation:

Identify the Registrar:

Use the WHOIS database to find out which registrar the domain is currently with. This database will provide you with the official contact details of the registrar responsible for your domain.

Registrar's Responsibility:

Registrars are obligated to provide access to domain management tools. If an intermediary has been unresponsive, the registrar should be able to assist you directly.

Domain Transfer:

If you wish to transfer the domain, you'll need the Authorization Code (EPP code). This can usually be obtained from the domain control panel, but since that's not an option, the registrar can provide it upon request.

Report the Issue:

Report the unresponsive intermediary to the registrar. They need to be aware of any service issues related to their resellers or intermediaries.

Update Contact Information:

Ensure your contact information is up-to-date in the WHOIS database. This is crucial for receiving important notifications about your domain.

Domain Transfer Lock:

Check if there's a domain transfer lock in place. If so, request the registrar to unlock it so you can proceed with the transfer.

Consider Legal Action:

If the registrar is uncooperative and you're facing significant issues, consider seeking legal advice to understand your rights and next steps.

Backup Your Data:

Make sure to have a backup of all your website data. In case of domain loss, you can quickly set up your website with a new domain.

Alternative Contact Methods:

Try reaching out to the registrar or intermediary through alternative methods like phone support or social media channels.

ICANN Complaint:

If the registrar fails to assist, file a complaint with ICANN. They oversee domain registration services and can take action if a registrar is not fulfilling their duties.

Remember, as the domain owner, you have the right to access domain management tools and receive support from your registrar. Persistence is key in resolving such issues.

At this moment, my suggestion would be to locate the Authorization code for the domain transfer within the EPP panel.

Once you have the code, proceed to a reliable registrar and initiate the transfer of your domain to their platform.

First step is to check the registrar of the domain through whois.

Next, look for a partner who works with this registrar.

Then, ask the new partner the question 'How do I transfer a domain from another partner to you?'

What other steps can be involved in this process?

Once these steps are completed, the transfer should take around 5-10 minutes, including registration in the partner's system.
