Greetings, esteemed members of the forum. I am curious about a recently introduced domain extension, namely .sale. Has anyone here had experience with this extension and its potential for success? Can it compete with established extensions such as .com, .biz, .info, and .net in terms of popularity and value? Any insights on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

Furthermore, I have registered nearly 200 keys in the .sale extension through pre-registration. However, I am now pondering whether I will be able to successfully sell even just a couple of them.

In my opinion, the potential of the .sale domain extension is average, much like many other extensions.

Donuts is the owner of the .sale extension and has plans for around 300 more, which leads me to believe that they won't heavily promote it. They haven't advertised their other zones extensively, so why would this one be any different?

The registration process for this extension will likely follow the same pattern as other Donut domains. The most valuable names will be reserved, then some will be given to trademarks, and the remainder of good names will be offered at a premium price. The less desirable names will be left unclaimed.

It's uncertain if .sale will hold the same value in the future, especially if new domain zones emerge. While premium names will still be in demand, their owners will likely attach a high price tag for renewal. This may not be worthwhile for those looking to invest.

With over 1000 new domains on the horizon, registering 200 names in each could lead to financial strain before any extension even takes off. It's important to carefully consider whether a domain zone will be successful before investing too much money.

Those in the online sales industry know that it's often beneficial to advertise big promotions and sales on separate subdomains or sites. Creating a standalone promotional site makes it easier to capture the attention of customers and encourage them to make purchases, which is why domain zones such as .sale and .blackfriday exist.

In fact, the .sale domain was introduced in 2015, while .blackfriday was introduced even earlier in 2014, before other popular extensions like .shop and .store. The word "Sale" is inherently associated with discounts, making it an ideal choice for websites offering significant deals. Similarly, .blackfriday is perfect for websites promoting promotions and discounts during this peak shopping period at the end of November.

These domain zones offer enough free names that it should be relatively easy to find a successful domain name to promote your sale.

The introduction of the .sale domain extension opens up new possibilities for businesses and individuals looking to create memorable and relevant domain names. The extension communicates a clear message about the purpose of the website, making it an attractive choice for e-commerce businesses, retail stores, and any entity involved in sales and promotions.
In terms of popularity and value, the .sale extension has the potential to compete with established extensions such as .com, .biz, .info, and .net, especially within the specific niche of online sales and promotions. It offers a distinct advantage in branding and marketing by instantly conveying the nature of the website to potential visitors.

However, the success of the .sale extension will depend on widespread adoption and acceptance within the online community. It may take time for the extension to gain the same level of recognition and trust as the established top-level domains (TLDs). Marketing efforts and industry support will play a crucial role in determining its long-term viability and success.

As for your concerns about selling the registered keys, it's important to consider the demand for domain names with the .sale extension. While there may be initial interest from businesses and individuals looking for relevant and memorable domain names, the saturation of the domain market and the availability of alternative extensions could impact the resale value of these keys.

To maximize the potential for successful sales, you may need to carefully curate a portfolio of high-quality, keyword-rich domain names that align with popular search terms and industry trends related to sales and promotions. Additionally, highlighting the benefits of having a .sale domain, such as improved branding and customer trust, can help attract potential buyers.
