GoDaddy has the highest number of wholesale prices among domain name sales venues in Namebio's macro picture. In 2021, its retail sales for a few months were reported which was expected to make the year a lot more robust than 2022.

However, surprisingly, the opposite happened as 2022 had superior dollar volumes and average sales prices despite having fewer total domain sales. Although the dollar volume decreased by $15M in 2022 compared to 2021, it still exceeded those of 2019 and 2020. GoDaddy dominated Namebio's sales records by recording 67.5% of all sales in 2022.

Recently, GoDaddy, an American web hosting provider, reported a serious vulnerability that allowed hackers to install malware on their platform and steal the source code related to some of their services. In December 2021, GoDaddy received numerous complaints from clients regarding website redirections to malicious sites.

Upon further investigation, it was discovered that unauthorized access by a third party was the root cause of this issue in the cPanel environment servers. Attackers installed malware intending to infect websites and servers for phishing campaigns and other nefarious activities.

This incident of security breach is related to two prior events: one in March 2020 and the other in November 2021. These attacks compromised the credentials of roughly 28,000 hosting customers and a small number of employees, as well as over a million active and inactive ManageWP customers in 2020 and 2021, respectively.

It is important for companies to take cybersecurity seriously and have measures in place to prevent unauthorized access and protect their clients' sensitive information. With increasing dependence on digital technologies, cybersecurity threats are becoming more sophisticated and frequent. Therefore, staying vigilant and investing in robust security systems is crucial to protect against breaches.
