Dan.com offers domain investors a mature and feature-packed marketplace for listing domains for sale. Since GoDaddy took ownership last summer, Dan.com has made two updates—positive news—but also increased its fees from 9% to 15%—not so great news.



Unfortunately, when potential buyers engage on Dan.com to make an offer, some of them exhibit poor behavior. So what exactly constitutes bad behavior on Dan.com? Here are a few examples:

- Placing exaggerated or fake offers in the millions of dollars, like $99,999,999, for domains that aren't particularly exceptional.
- Contacting the seller with a profanity-laden name that is clearly not legitimate.
- Making claims, threats, or sending harassing content to the seller through the contact form.

These instances are valid reasons for Dan.com support to block and ban the offending accounts.

While Dan.com provides potential buyers with the ability to unsubscribe from future communications, unlike the Uni Market, the seller does not have the option to block or unsubscribe contacts. In such cases, the seller must report the behavior to Dan.com support.

Perhaps in the next release, Dan.com could incorporate an option to remove and block offensive or threatening offers without having to rely on contacting the support team.

I find the user interface of Dan.com appealing, but the recent fee hike is hard to swallow, especially when coupled with the harassment some sellers face. The platform's inability for sellers to block disruptive buyers is a glaring oversight.
We should have the tools to manage our engagements better. This lack of control can deter serious sellers and buyers alike. I urge Dan.com to prioritize this feature in their next release - it's essential for maintaining a healthy marketplace.
