Customers of Epik were spooked by the financial issues that the company faced in January and as a result, they transferred tens of thousands of domains to other registrars.

Registry transaction reports for the month of January show that 30,596 domain names were lost by Epik with 32,287 being outbound transfers and 1,691 inbound transfers. This number is much higher than the previous month where the net loss was 20,687. GoDaddy saw the most outbound transfers in January, as their primary accreditation had almost 66 million domains with only 63,943 outbound transfers. Between September of last year and January, the total number of outgoing transfers exceeded 100,000, causing Epik's domain under management (DUM) to drop from 792,554 to 684,691. Interestingly, Epik's new domain creations have also decreased significantly, adding just 5,158 new domains in January compared to the low five-figure number added every month last year.
The exodus was a result of customers experiencing difficulties in withdrawing their money, leading to allegations of financial mismanagement and at least one customer lawsuit. These numbers don't include ccTLDs, and data for gTLDs is delayed by three months due to ICANN policy.
Overall, Epik is still struggling to recover from the financial setbacks experienced earlier this year, and the situation remains unpredictable.
