I received an email this morning from Uniregistry, notifying me that my domain name portfolio was successfully moved to GoDaddy.



Taking control of my portfolio required me to set up a new account number and password, and I had to verify my email address via GoDaddy. However, I ran into issues during the verification process because the email would not arrive due to grey-listing settings. I had to white-list the GoDaddy IP range, and after that, I was able to receive the verification email.

The new GoDaddy domain manager interface looks great, and it's miles ahead of the old GoDaddy UI that I used previously. Although the rates for renewals have gone up, I'm still satisfied with the user interface. I decided to move some of my domains to Sav.com and initiated a transfer but ran into glitches because the WHOIS privacy was on. After turning WHOIS privacy off, I had to authorize the transfer.

Overall, I'm not planning to keep my domains at GoDaddy and will be transferring them away as they approach expiration. GoDaddy should have provided domainer-friendly pricing from the beginning because most accounts transitioning from Uniregistry are those of domain investors.

I wouldn't discourage others from using GoDaddy despite the issues I faced. The UX is considerably better now, thanks to the work of the Uniregistry team.
