As Altanovo fights on, the timeline for the contracting of .web to Nu Dot Co, which plans to assign the domain to Verisign (NASDAQ: VRSN), is yet again in doubt, mere weeks after ICANN's board had made a decision to move forward.

Altanovo, the runner-up bidder in the $135 million auction for .web, has filed with ICANN again, this time for another Cooperative Engagement Process (CEP).

Altanovo has previously filed for CEP and Independent Review Process (IRP) before. Despite the IRP panel ruling that ICANN was allowed to make a call on Verisign's deal, Altanovo filed an appeal before ICANN's board made a decision.
The IRP panel ordered Altanovo to pay $237,000 to ICANN for its troubles. Nonetheless, Altanovo remains steadfast in its quest.

This decision has come under scrutiny once again as there are allegations of impropriety and lack of transparency in the process. The controversy surrounding the allocation of the .Web domain to a particular organization has raised questions about the integrity of ICANN's decision-making procedures.

It is essential to recognize that domain name allocation is a critical aspect of the internet infrastructure, and any irregularities in this process can have far-reaching implications for businesses, individuals, and the overall stability of the online ecosystem. The scrutiny of ICANN's decision on the .Web domain underscores the need for greater accountability and transparency in the governance of internet resources.

This development has sparked debates within the internet governance community, with many calling for reforms to ensure that such important decisions are made with the highest standards of fairness and impartiality. As a journalist, my role is to shed light on these issues and facilitate informed discussions that contribute to the advancement of a more transparent and accountable internet governance framework.
