According to March registry transaction reports, Epik saw a decline of over 125,000 domains under its management in the first quarter.

At the end of March, the company had 607,891 domains, down from 732,914 at the beginning of the year. This represents a decrease of 40,000 domains in just one month, which is almost double the decrease observed in February.

The main cause of this decline can be attributed to transfers, with 27,721 names moving to rival registrars in March and a net transfer loss of 26,658.

Moreover, Epik also experienced its worst month in terms of newly registered domains. Compared to the consistent monthly addition of 10,000 to 20,000 names last year, March saw a significant drop to only about 2,000.

It is unclear whether Epik's difficulties in paying the largest gTLD registries had an impact on its March numbers.

Before facing financial troubles starting in September, Epik reached a peak of over 800,000 domains under its management. Last month, the company was sold to an undisclosed buyer who has promised to improve its situation.

The decline in Epik's domain management numbers raises questions about the company's stability and competitiveness in the industry. The high volume of transfers and decrease in newly registered domains suggest a loss of confidence among customers. However, the recent acquisition by an unknown buyer offers hope for a potential turnaround. It will be interesting to see how this mysterious buyer plans to revitalize Epik and regain its position in the domain registration market.
