In the future, additional travel-related strings may become available in new gTLD application rounds as a result of Travel Reservations Srl's decision to abandon its contracts for .hoteles, .vuelos, and .passagens.



These generic and non-branded strings were the Spanish translations of "hotels" and "flights" and the Portuguese for "tickets," respectively. The registry operator, owned by Despegar, had also applied for the Portuguese .hoteis but withdrew its bid before delegation.
Although none of the gTLDs ever launched and no registered domains exist, the strings will be available to other applicants in future rounds.

Despegar indicated in its initial applications that it was unsure of its plans for the domains and would take a wait-and-see approach. After a decade of waiting and seeing, it has apparently decided not to operate these TLDs after all.
It is worth noting that while termination notices were sent in January of this year, they were dated November 6, 2020.
