Title: Afternic domain name verification
Post by: evejones on Nov 15, 2022, 02:47 AM
Afternic's technical support for confirming domain name ownership is terrible. It's infuriating that they leave the door open to scammers and allow them to jeopardize the membership of legitimate sellers.

When I downloaded my domains, Afternic refused to list some of them, claiming they were already registered by another seller. But I had manually registered these domains myself some time ago! Is there no way to prevent this from happening?

I noticed that some of my domains listed exclusively on SquadHelp were also registered on Afternic by other vendors. This limits the visibility of SquadHelp, and yet again I have to prove my ownership. This really wastes the time of legitimate sellers, especially those with large portfolios.

To tackle this problem, GoDaddy has implemented a TXT log audit and connected their GoDaddy and Afternic accounts. It's frustrating that Afternic hasn't implemented such a basic function since 2019, despite having a function to detect disabled domains. Afternic, it's time to take action.

I can't help but feel that Afternic is reluctant to introduce a domain verification check for some reason. Perhaps they fear that adding this feature will require them to cancel the 30% domain list, which could negatively affect stock prices. Whatever the reason, it's certainly annoying for users of domain names.

We apologize that you are dissatisfied with the verification test process at Afternic. As you have pointed out, the high volume of events necessitates the need for this process.

Sedo has received a number of negative reviews on TrustPilot regarding domain names that were not supposed to belong to the seller. It appears that they have managed to resolve this issue.

Afternic is committed to addressing this recurring problem and getting back to business. We hope to find an effective solution soon.

This is an automated review process for domains that verifies ownership. It's worth noting that they request a domain transfer, whereas usually they would check the WHOIS and nameservers with handles from the request in the admin panel before returning everything to its place. Perhaps there's a new marketing ploy by the DLS Premium department.

Their auto-review process is activated when there is a timeout or a change in the WHOIS or nameservers. Nonetheless, it's advisable to list even the most basic or minimal domains on the marketplace, as there are hardly any random ends and if someone is interested, they will contact you directly.

I'd like to add a quick note: the one thing I've always enjoyed about Afternic is their Escrow service and the helpful support team. My account manager was particularly pleasant to deal with. However, I've found that sales are often made on Sedo or directly through Escrow.com.

Issues with domain name ownership can be complicated, and it's not uncommon for errors or conflicts to occur in the domain marketplace. While companies like Afternic strive to provide efficient services, occasional shortcomings can happen. Implementing additional verification checks or integration features may indeed help improve these processes, but it's up to Afternic to decide on their priorities and roadmap for development.

It's worth noting that stock prices, partnerships, and business strategies can influence decision-making across various organizations. However, without specific information about Afternic's motivations, it would be speculative to attribute their reluctance to introduce certain features solely to concerns over stock prices or any other external factors.
