Hello everyone on the forum! I'm experiencing an issue with parking that I hope you can help me with. I've used the ns1/ns2 Afternic DNS to close my domain names, but after two weeks, I'm still seeing a blank page and nothing appears.
I've had my parking status approved in Afternic, but this problem persists. Interestingly, other forum members have encountered the same problem. Besides reaching out to support, are there any other workarounds available? I must say, the quality of customer support is very poor, taking 3-5 days to receive what seems like "dumb answers," etc.
Have any of you dealt with a similar situation? What would be your advice for finding a solution?
Once upon a time, I listed some of my delicious domains for sale on afternic.com. Recently, I received a good offer for one of the domains, and even though the auction raked in a hefty 25%, the amount was still acceptable at $8k.
I followed the necessary steps for their escrow system and transferred the domain name to my escrow manager after receiving payment from the buyer. Up until this point, everything went smoothly and quickly. The transaction was completed on August 8th.
However, shortly after that, something inexplicable happened. Although the money seems to have been deposited into my account, the manager and support were unresponsive, leaving me unsure of how to withdraw my funds. Since it was a significant amount and I'm from Russia, I thought they might be verifying the transaction's integrity, so I decided not to worry about it.
Then a week ago, I received a shocking letter from the buyer accusing me of engaging in a fraudulent sale of the domain and demanding an explanation. Apparently, the buyer had paid on August 6th but had not received anything from me by the 20th. I tried to explain the situation, provided the contact information of my managers, and instructed the buyer to contact them. Thankfully, the domain was soon handed over to the buyer.
However, my problem remains unresolved. It has been a week since I attempted to contact the manager and support team, but they have been entirely unresponsive. Whenever I call, I am transferred to the foreign client department and must listen to music for several minutes. To make matters worse, their payment system lacks fields to specify bank account details, making it impossible for me to set up a withdrawal.
I can't help but wonder if I'm just unlucky or if afternic.com's service is so rotten that they cannot provide a decent service even for clients who give more than $1.5k per operation. Have you ever had a similar experience? What would you suggest I do in this situation?
The search engine on Afternic is inconvenient, as it lacks features like the option to choose several zones at once, and also directs users to the main page when the search query is empty. Additionally, filters like "domain name," "buy now," etc. don't work in the list of auction domains. The search engine only functions based on specific keywords, and even then, users must click a link at the top to be directed to a new page.
On the other hand, Sedo requires users to confirm their ownership rights over the domain by submitting screenshots from their portfolio to the registrar. Though this process can take up to 3-5 days to check 90 domains, it provides an added layer of security for buyers and sellers alike.
Have you personally experienced any issues with domain search engines or verification procedures? What steps do you think could be taken to improve the user experience on such platforms?
Double-check if your domain's nameservers are correctly pointed to Afternic's ns1/ns2 - sometimes a typo or caching issue can mess up the propagation. Also, clear your browser cache or test on a different device to rule out local quirks.
If it's still a no-go after two weeks, it might be a backend snag on Afternic's end, which is a total bummer. Since support is ghosting you with slow, cookie-cutter replies, try hitting up the domaining community on forums like NamePros for insider hacks. Some peeps have switched to alternative parking services like Sedo or Dan.com when Afternic's tech stack flops.
