Can you advise me on the most effective approach? We have a corporate website, domain.com, and we plan on selling around 5 products.
Would it be better to create a separate domain name or a subdomain like shop.domain.com?

What is the best way to boost a subdomain's visibility in search results?
Can you suggest any innovative domain names instead of using a commonplace name like 'shop'?

It is possible to promote a subdomain, but with only 5 pages, it may not be very effective. Instead, it would be better to create a /shop section on the main website as it will inherit the trust of the entire site, resulting in less money spent on promotion.

Once the section is created, it is important to promote it extensively. This can be achieved either by directing traffic from the main website to the shop, or by promoting the shop with a business card-like website.

A subdomain is not an independent website. The authority of the subdomain is transferred to the main domain automatically.

However, it doesn't work the other way around. At least, that's how it used to be. When linking from the main domain to the subdomain, it is considered a separate entity.

Nevertheless, it is still advisable to create a blog on a subdomain. This makes it easier to change management systems for the store and blog if they have different addresses.

Furthermore, storing the store and blog on different servers could prove very helpful in cases of trade wars with DDoS attacks.

When deciding between a separate domain name or a subdomain for your online store, there are a few factors to consider.

If you opt for a separate domain name, it gives you more flexibility and independence in terms of branding and marketing. However, it also means you have to build the domain's authority from scratch, which can take time and effort.

On the other hand, using a subdomain like "shop.domain.com" allows you to leverage the existing authority and visibility of your main domain. This can potentially boost the subdomain's visibility in search results. Additionally, it makes it easier for users to recognize that the online store is related to your main website.

To boost a subdomain's visibility, you can follow some general SEO best practices. Ensure that the subdomain has its own unique content relevant to the products you are selling. Optimize the subdomain by researching and using relevant keywords, meta tags, and headings. Promote the subdomain through link building and social media outreach. Finally, make sure the subdomain is easily navigable and user-friendly.

As for innovative domain name suggestions, it depends on your brand and the products you sell. Consider names that reflect the uniqueness and appeal of your products and differentiate yourself from competitors. Brainstorm ideas based on your target audience, industry trends, or even play with creative word combinations.
