Hello! Based on your message, you own a wholesale business and are trying to determine if Woocommerce or Shopify would be the better e-commerce platform to use. Your online store is meant for B2B buyers who purchase in large quantities but you don't plan to display prices on your site. You're looking to streamline the ordering process and allow clients to order online instead of emailing or calling you directly. You have prior experience using WordPress from running blogs for over a decade and want to know if this experience is enough to manage a WooCommerce site for a B2B platform.

I concur that Woocommerce is the ideal choice for me, despite its slight learning curve. Many people have told me that they prefer Woocommerce over Shopify after becoming familiar with it.

If Shopify offers a free trial, it might be worth trying both platforms to see which one suits me best. In terms of experience, having prior knowledge of WordPress is definitely an advantage.

Quote from: Туман, туман on Jun 19, 2022, 10:49 AMHey, I have a wholesale business and I am wondering, should I go for Woocomerece or Shopify?

My online store will be dedicated to wholesale buyers (B2B) who will buy in bulk, and I won't even put the prices on my website but I will just make it easier for my clients to make an order online rather than calling me or emailing me the products they want. then I send them the price by email and they will pay by a bank transfer.

I do have some WordPress experience as I run several blogs for over 10 years. But I am wondering which one would be better and more suitable for a B2B platform? would my current WordPress experience be sufficient to run a WooCommerce site?
It is necessary to take and do, since there is such a desire, to create your own website. To develop your business. If you want to open your own online store. And to be more specific. Then to create a site on WooCommerce there is the possibility of individual page settings.

In my opinion shopify is much better since it has more functions and larger audience, but if you want to create your own personal site and do absolutely everything as you like, then of course woocommerce gonna fit you well, since you creating sites from 0 in there

Shopify Plus is utilized by major companies such as L'Oreal, Adidas, Motorola, and Tesla, and offers benefits such as managing multiple online stores through a single admin panel, separate landing pages for selling products abroad, control over 25 sales channels via an admin panel, integrated tax calculation through the Avalara app, ability to process up to 8000 orders per minute, 1800 applications for various businesses, SSL security certificate for store and checkout, and the option to set up a wholesale eCommerce channel with one click. The Shopify App Store provides numerous B2B add-ons for your Shopify store.
On the other hand, for using WooCommerce, you need to have a WooCommerce store, and the OptinMonster tool is helpful in converting visitors to customers. When a user adds a product to the cart, WooCommerce automatically sets the "woocommerce_items_in_cart" cookie in their browser with the number of items in the cart.

Both WooCommerce and Shopify have their unique features and advantages, but given your specific requirements, I would lean towards WooCommerce for several reasons.
WooCommerce, being a plugin for WordPress, seamlessly integrates with your existing experience on the platform. This means that you can leverage your proficiency in WordPress to efficiently manage and customize your B2B e-commerce store. The familiarity you have gained from running blogs will definitely be an asset when setting up and maintaining your online wholesale business.

Secondly, since you don't plan to display prices on your site, WooCommerce provides the flexibility to create a password-protected wholesale area where B2B buyers can log in and view prices specific to their group. This feature aligns well with your goal of catering to bulk buyers while maintaining privacy and exclusivity.

Given your aim to streamline the ordering process and enable clients to place orders online, WooCommerce offers a wide range of extensions and plugins specifically designed for B2B functionality. You can implement features such as quote requests, bulk order forms, custom pricing, and customer-specific catalogs to enhance the experience for your wholesale clients.

In terms of managing a WooCommerce site for a B2B platform, your prior experience with WordPress will indeed provide a solid foundation. However, it's important to note that running an e-commerce store involves additional intricacies such as inventory management, order processing, and security considerations. But fear not, as there are resources and tutorials available to help you navigate these aspects, and you can also consider hiring a WooCommerce developer or consultant for any advanced customization or technical assistance.
Based on your background, requirements, and the specific needs of a B2B wholesale business, WooCommerce appears to be the more suitable choice for your e-commerce platform. With your existing knowledge and the flexibility offered by WooCommerce, you can effectively transition into managing and growing your online wholesale venture.

You're essentially trying to reinvent the wheel by using a platform designed for consumer e-commerce. WooCommerce is great for small businesses, but for a wholesale operation like yours, you need something more robust.

Shopify, on the other hand, is built for enterprise-level businesses and offers advanced features like multi-channel inventory management and automated order routing. Your lack of experience with e-commerce platforms will only lead to frustration and headaches down the line.
