Title: Email Hosting Alternatives
Post by: nostickrepair on Jun 08, 2023, 06:18 AM
Currently, I am utilizing multiple mailboxes on zoho. However, it appears as though they have restrictions on multiple registration. Despite this inhibition, I believe there may be a more optimal solution available.

When initiating the development of my_new_website.com and ultimately hosting it on VPS, what approach do you take when it comes to email hosting?

What is happening here?
For several years, Google, Yahoo, and Mail have been offering domain-based email services with antispam and secure storage features.
Competition with their level of service is no easy feat.
It's pointless to try and replicate their offerings, considering they offer these services for free on a limited number of mailboxes in the domain.

Google only offers domain hosting services, while applications are sent through phpmailer using Google smtp from the website.

As for additional information on this topic, Google is not a comprehensive web hosting service, meaning that it may not be the best choice for those who require more advanced features such as server-side scripting or database integration. However, if all one needs is a simple domain hosting service, Google could be a viable option. It is also worth noting that phpmailer is a popular open-source mailer library for sending emails through PHP code, and that Google smtp is one of the available options for configuring its settings.

When a domain exists, there is also the possibility of having mail. One option is to redirect mail to your primary email and use a mail collector to categorize emails from specific domains.

In my experience serving multiple sites, I have not encountered the need to create a new mailbox.

One alternative is to use a separate email hosting service specialized in providing email hosting solutions. These services often offer advanced features such as spam filtering, large storage capacities, and seamless integration with various email clients.

Another option is to utilize a cloud-based email hosting solution, which offers the advantage of flexibility and scalability. Cloud-based email hosting allows for easy access to emails from any location with internet connectivity and provides built-in redundancy for reliability.

Additionally, if the client requires a more comprehensive solution, I might consider setting up a self-hosted email server on the VPS. This approach gives the client full control over their email infrastructure, including security and privacy aspects, but also requires significant technical expertise for setup and maintenance.

For clients who require a simple and cost-effective solution, I might recommend using domain registrar-provided email hosting, often included with domain registration services. While this option may have limitations compared to dedicated email hosting services, it can be a suitable choice for small businesses and startups with basic email needs.

I recommend using a dedicated email hosting service like G Suite or Microsoft 365. This ensures reliable email delivery, robust security, and seamless integration with other tools.
Relying solely on Zoho can be limiting due to its restrictions on multiple registrations, which can hinder scalability. Moreover, VPS hosting allows for greater control, but it doesn't inherently provide email solutions.
Using an external provider for email hosting is a more optimal strategy, ensuring you avoid potential pitfalls of shared hosting environments.
