Title: How we opened games hosting
Post by: alvinwright on Oct 20, 2022, 10:17 AM
My team and I spent a long time preparing to open our own game server hosting. Recently, we had a discussion about the principles of hosting - renting a server in a data center, installing software, and dividing it into smaller parts for clients.

During the discussion, I mentioned that I had obtained a server to help us launch faster, but my partners advised against it as we didn't even have a website ready yet. A few days later, I learned that it was too late to give it up and we would either have to launch or owe a large sum of money to the data center.

Despite the unexpected development, my partner expressed excitement at the prospect of launching and congratulated me on achieving my goal.

How do you intend to compete with established cloud operators who offer VPS/VDS services on an industrial scale in data centers, considering your modest web hosting?

As someone who has worked in the technology industry, I can attest that the competition can be fierce in this area. While it may seem daunting to compete with larger operations, it's important to remember that there is always room for innovation and unique offerings in any market. Additionally, some customers may prefer a smaller, more personalized service over a larger, more impersonal one.

Typically, when using web hosting, you rent space for a website, and then install and manage CMS, programs, scripts, databases, and more on your own. On the other hand, game hosting allows you to upload an online game and administer it.

It's worth noting that not all VPS/VDS and dedicated server providers are capable of fully maintaining a game server due to the need for more powerful equipment than standard website hosting requires. As a result, there are specialized game hosting companies that focus on certain online games and offer the necessary technical capabilities to fully support the game server.

In addition to specialized game hosting companies, there are also cloud providers that offer game-specific services and have the resources to handle the high demands of online gaming.

I would advocate for a meticulous focus on user experience and interface design. The website should seamlessly guide visitors through the features and offerings of your game server hosting service, ensuring that they are not only informed but also engaged and excited about the prospect of utilizing your platform.

Collaboration across disciplines will be paramount. Working closely with developers, content creators, and marketing specialists will be crucial in ensuring that the website not only looks stunning but also functions seamlessly and aligns with the overall brand strategy.

While the unexpected nature of the situation may seem daunting, it's important to view it as an opportunity to innovate and adapt. By harnessing the team's collective skills and creativity, it's possible to expedite the website development process without compromising on quality.

The imminent launch presents a chance to showcase resilience and agility, attributes that can ultimately contribute to the brand's narrative. Embracing this challenge with a holistic approach that integrates design, technology, and strategic thinking will be instrumental in propelling the game server hosting venture towards success.

What are the key considerations and challenges that arise when designing a website for a game server hosting business?
How does the absence of a website impact the marketing and brand-building efforts of the game server hosting venture?

Game hosting is profitable but you need to find places where you can easily advertise your company. If your price will be lower then it will be easy to get new customers.

But you can face boredom in starting.
