Some domain names that are being released work quite well

The domains that are being released often come with a catch - they are not as free as they seem. Many of them are parked on Sedo and require payment to be used.

It's frustrating to see that even when the whois shows that the domain has been released, it still leads to a parking lot with a purchase offer. It feels like the system is rigged against those who just want to use a domain for their own purposes.

The "paid-till" date indicates when a domain is registered and until what date it is paid for. Once the date has passed, the domain may be parked by the registrar with a message indicating that it has not been renewed. This will continue until the free-date, which is 30 days after the "paid-till" date. Then, the domain will be deleted.

However, there are situations where the deletion date may be postponed. For example, if the domain is blocked by a court decision during legal proceedings. Additionally, domains are typically deleted on the second working day after weekends and holidays, but if there is a large number to delete, only 10,000 domains per day will be removed from each registry - potentially causing delays.

It's important to note that when the deletion date is postponed, the date in the whois and domain registration service for released domain names will not change due to technical constraints of the registry.

Overall, understanding these processes can help individuals and companies manage their domain registrations and prevent unwanted surprises regarding their domain's status.
