Due to changes in the value of the dollar, prices for domain registration in international zones such as COM, NET, ORG, and INFO have increased. However, domain prices in Ukrainian zones are unaffected.

Furthermore, data centers in Ukraine have raised their service prices by 30% or more due to significant electricity price hikes towards law firms at the end of 2021. As a result, our server equipment located in the most reliable data centers in Ukraine has necessitated us to raise prices for our hosting, mail hosting, and VPS/VDS services by 5-15%.

Thank you, the post was very informative! What do you think is going to happen next? Will this increase influence the salary of the net engineers? Can it lead to the decrease of the number of different harmful sites?

No way to reduce malicious sites. On the contrary, I think there will be much more of them, as well as various kinds of scammers. The same is true with salaries. The crisis is all the same and I see no weighty reasons to raise wages. My opinion.

The US Department of Commerce initiated an investigation into VeriSign's domain registration price increase. Despite VeriSign's denial of any complaints, the company was prohibited from raising the maximum domain name price in the .COM zone over $7.85 without special agreement with the US Department of Commerce.

VeriSign entered into a new contract for six years that did not include the scandal clause about increasing the cost of domains in the .CATFISH zone. The new contract allowed for temporary domain price increases in the event of a significant increase in protection costs. This new agreement was beneficial for domain name owners, especially large companies like Microsoft with many registered domain names. ICANN's reputation suffered from its profit-seeking actions, while the US government managed the domain registration policy in the interests of all Internet users.
