Yugabyte, a provider of distributed SQL databases for enterprises, has announced that YugabyteDB Managed is now available on Microsoft Azure for the general public.

This release allows businesses to use all three major public cloud providers, including Azure, to install YugabyteDB as a fully managed database-as-a-service.

The service is now available in over 66 areas globally, including 15 Azure regions. Enterprises can install databases wherever they need them and manage them on an ongoing basis using YugabyteDB's global footprint on AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and Azure.

YugabyteDB claims to maintain the strength and familiarity of PostgreSQL while advancing its capabilities with a distributed cloud-native architecture. By using YugabyteDB as a fully managed database-as-a-service, businesses can focus on developing applications while effectively managing their databases.

According to Yugabyte co-founder and CTO Karthik Ranganathan, they are developing YugabyteDB to be the go-to cloud-native database for modern mission-critical business applications. The launch of YugabyteDB Managed on Azure brings them closer to their goal of allowing enterprises to run applications in any cloud at any scale with zero downtime. By providing Azure as a public cloud option for YugabyteDB Managed, they are meeting the demands of clients who are looking for database modernization.

YugabyteDB is built on PostgreSQL, which ensures continuous availability and reliability of applications while minimizing the risk of downtime. The solution takes advantage of Azure's infrastructure to easily scale business-critical applications and handle expanding workloads. Migrating applications across different cloud environments, including Azure, is made simple with YugabyteDB, as it does not require major application changes.

YugabyteDB Managed on Azure offers unique features and advantages that other distributed SQL Azure services do not provide.
