Gcore, a European CDN technology provider, has introduced significant updates to its Managed Kubernetes service that allows customers to operate containers on bare metal servers.



This new implementation will improve latency and performance, guarantee high availability and reliability, and eliminate interference from neighboring virtual machines.

The Director of Edge Cloud Stream at Gcore, Seva Vayner, stated that the majority of cloud vendors only support Kubernetes containers in VM-based infrastructure, making Gcore's new bare metal service the solution for industries such as banking, healthcare, broadcasting, and entertainment that require a competitive advantage for real-time applications and live-streaming graphics. Notably, Gcore's Managed Kubernetes service is less expensive than hyperscalers, and it provides comprehensive production-level, SLA-backed cluster management at no additional cost.

Gcore's Managed Kubernetes service also simplifies infrastructure deployment, facilitates scalability and application testing, and reduces IT team workloads. The service will first be available in Luxembourg, Frankfurt, Singapore, and Virginia, USA, before being rolled out to 14 more locations worldwide.

Customers of this service can take advantage of robust data protection across the network and transport layers, as well as application-level protection via a WAF. Gcore claims to be one of the first cloud service providers to adopt Intel SGX encryption standards at the IaaS level to provide enhanced client security. Additionally, Gcore complies with all GDPR requirements regarding customer-stored personal data.
