I decided to test https://www.digitalocean.com and it appears that the registration process went smoothly as I was able to add a credit card. However, there is a subsequent step which requires passing an identity check, entailing the submission of as much personal information as possible. In my case, since I am not particularly fond of platforms like Twitter, I only provided my email address and phone number. After some time, I received a letter requesting me to specify the purpose for which I needed the server. I responded that it was for hosting, and subsequently, they asked for a photo of my credit card and an identification dоcument such as a passport.

Without hesitation, I sent them the requested materials. Since then, there has been no response for a day. To clarify, I'm curious if any of you have had a similar experience with this platform? Personally, I am not overly concerned about any potential charges on my credit card related to hosting. Nevertheless, I find their policies quite intriguing. Or perhaps, did I make a mistake somewhere along the way?

it is common for platforms like DigitalOcean to have identity verification processes in place to prevent fraud and ensure the safety of their services. The requested materials, such as a photo of your credit card and identification dоcument, are typically required to confirm your identity and verify the authenticity of the information provided during the registration process.

If you have concerns about the delay in response or any mistakes made during the registration process, it would be best to reach out to DigitalOcean's customer support for assistance. They should be able to provide you with more information and help resolve any issues you may be facing.

The registration process typically involves creating an account by providing your email address and setting up a password. Once you've created an account, you can add a valid credit card for payment purposes. In some cases, DigitalOcean may require additional steps for identity verification, such as submitting personal information and dоcuments to confirm your identity.

During the identity check, DigitalOcean may ask for details about the purpose of your server usage. This helps them ensure that their services are being used for legitimate and lawful purposes. Additionally, they might request a photo of your credit card (with sensitive information obscured) and an identification dоcument like a passport to further verify your identity.

After you've submitted the necessary information, it is normal for there to be a processing time before receiving a response. The duration can vary, so it's best to be patient. If you haven't received any response or are concerned about the delay, reaching out to DigitalOcean's customer support would be the appropriate step to take.

Hosting providers often have a standard policy in place to proactively filter out spammers and unreliable clients. This is done to avoid dealing with numerous issues later on. As part of this policy, there are internal regulations that determine when additional identification data should be requested.

To prevent fraud, please provide identification and photo cards. This verification process is in place to identify any suspicious transactions made with stolen cards. The bank will review the transactions and refund any questionable payments, although this may take some time. In the interim, the service provider will continue to offer payment services since they are unable to independently verify the transactions. Rest assured, your payments are secure.

In contrast, other payment methods do not require such extensive verification measures.
