How can I locate the owner of a domain in the *.com zone if the whois information only shows the registrar?
Is there a method to determine the email address of the owner, which they provided during registration?

I faced a similar issue which was resolved in a very straightforward manner. Simply visit the registrar's website and search for ways to contact the owner. For instance, on reg.com, upon using whois, an option "write to the owner" appears at the bottom, provided that the domain is registered with them. I observed the same functionality at masterhost.

Additionally, try checking the domain history or contacting the registrar to gather information. However, it is unlikely that you will be able to obtain the email if all details are hidden. It is also worth mentioning that sometimes incorrect email addresses can be provided accidentally.

You could consider contacting the current host or the previous host (if applicable) to check if they have any data on the registered domain, as some domains are registered through hosts.

Hosts typically have access to more client data than registrars and may have limited knowledge of privacy. You can search for the host using both IP and ns servers. Additionally, if the website is currently operational, you could check the domains hosted on the same IP to identify any intersections that may provide relevant insight.

1) To get in touch with the domain owner, you can email the address listed in the private whois data. It may be the email of the private whois service or a special one allocated for forwarding to the owner's mailbox, as is the case with Contact Privacy (Netfirms).

2) If the domain is registered with GoDaddy, you can obtain more detailed information about it through the WHOIS registrar at who.godaddy.com.

3) 1stat.com is a service that stores various information about domains, including their previous WHOIS data, but it only collects statistics on Russian domains. However, similar services may be available for domains on the rest of the Internet.

To locate the owner of a domain in the .com zone, you can try a few methods. First, you can perform a WHOIS lookup using various online tools or websites that provide WHOIS information. While the registrar's contact details are usually displayed, sometimes the domain owner's contact information may be visible as well.

If the WHOIS information only shows the registrar, there are still a couple of options to try. Some registrars offer private registration services, which means they replace the domain owner's contact details with their own. In such cases, the registrar acts as a proxy and forwards any relevant communication to the domain owner. You can still reach out to the listed registrar and ask for assistance in contacting the domain owner.

Another method is to visit the domain's website itself. Often, a website will have contact information or an email address listed on their site. By contacting them directly, you may be able to reach the domain owner or someone who can put you in touch with them.

If the methods mentioned above do not yield the desired results or if the domain owner has opted for private registration, it can be difficult to determine the email address used during registration. However, there are still a few additional approaches you can try:

1. Use a website that specializes in domain research: There are several online tools and websites available that provide insights and data about domains. These platforms may offer more comprehensive domain information, including historical records, previous ownership details, and even email contacts associated with the domain. Some popular tools include DomainTools, Whoisology, and DomainIQ.

2. Perform a Google search: Try searching the domain name, variations of the domain name, or the company name associated with the domain. This might uncover publicly available contact information or instances where the domain owner has mentioned their email address on other websites, forums, or social media platforms.

3. Contact the domain registrar directly: Reach out to the registrar listed in the WHOIS information and explain your situation. They might be able to assist you in contacting the domain owner or forwarding your message to them.

4. Utilize email lookup services: There are specialized email lookup services available that can help you find email addresses associated with specific domains. These services rely on various databases and algorithms to identify potential email addresses used by the domain owner. Some examples include Hunter.io, Voila Norbert, and Snov.io.

additional methods you can try to determine the email address of a domain owner:

1. Check for a "Contact Us" page: Visit the domain's website and look for a "Contact Us" or similar page. Some websites provide an email address or contact form through which you can reach out to the domain owner or relevant personnel.

2. Check the WHOIS history: If the domain has changed ownership in the past, you can check the WHOIS history to see if any historical records display the domain owner's email address. This may provide clues or indirect contact information that could be helpful.

3. Use social media: Look for the domain owner or their company on social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Twitter, or Facebook. Sometimes, individuals or companies publicly share their contact details, including email addresses, on their social media profiles.

4. Network with industry contacts: If the domain is associated with a specific industry or niche, try reaching out to others within that industry who may have connections to the domain owner. Networking and connecting with relevant professionals can sometimes lead to obtaining the desired contact information.

5. Hire a professional investigator: In cases where it is essential to contact the domain owner, but their information is well-protected, you could consider hiring a professional investigator who specializes in online research and tracking. They may have access to advanced tools and techniques to uncover hidden contact details.
