Role of Text Optimization: Responsibility of Optimizer or Website Developer?

Hey guys, I need your help.
Once upon a time, I created a website for a client, but there was no plan for promotion. Or rather, it was planned, but not by me. Specifically, it was done offline because online promotion didn't seem necessary to the client at that time.

Today, the client called and mentioned finding an optimizer-promoter on Facebook. He then proceeded (as most SEOs tend to do) to criticize the website I made six years ago and demanded that I purchase a second-level domain. Apparently, promoting an existing third-level domain is extremely difficult, and he wants me to rewrite texts and make other changes so that he can promote it.

Guys, I registered the domain with the intention of targeting the local market, hence the ".odessa.ua" extension, which does not imply "world domination." The texts were kept short and simply described the product without keyword stuffing because it wasn't necessary.

Here's what I need advice on:
1. Is there a significant difference in the potential for promoting second-level and third-level domains?
2. Is text optimization primarily the responsibility of the optimizer or is it a natural requirement for website developers?
3. Wouldn't it be more effective to invest in Google AdWords instead of dealing with all these complex requirements?

What other demands should I expect from the client? How much does a promotion service usually cost? How can I avoid getting overwhelmed by all this?

I apologize for being emotional and providing vague explanations. I would appreciate advice from those who have experienced similar situations or are involved in promotion. Thank you.

I understand your frustration and confusion regarding the situation with your client's website. I'll do my best to answer your questions and provide some advice.

1. The potential for promoting second-level and third-level domains is not significantly different. Both can be promoted effectively if the right strategies and techniques are applied. The domain extension itself does not impact the promotion process significantly.

2. Text optimization is typically a collaborative effort between SEO specialists and website developers. While developers should have a basic understanding of SEO principles and best practices, dedicated optimizers often take the lead in keyword research, content optimization, and other aspects of on-page SEO. However, it is beneficial for developers to have a general understanding of SEO to ensure the technical aspects of the website are optimized.

3. Investing in Google AdWords can be an effective way to drive traffic to your client's website, especially if you want immediate results. However, SEO efforts can provide long-term organic traffic and visibility, which can be sustainable and more cost-effective in the long run. It's important to find the right balance between SEO and paid advertising based on your client's goals and budget.

In terms of other demands from the client, it depends on their specific requirements and goals. They might ask for additional content updates or changes to the website structure to improve search engine visibility. The cost of a promotion service can vary widely depending on the scope of work, competition in the industry, and the expertise of the SEO professional or agency.

To avoid getting overwhelmed, it's essential to communicate openly with your client and set clear expectations from the beginning. Understand their goals, budget, and timeline, and clearly define your role as a website developer. If needed, consider collaborating with an experienced SEO specialist who can guide you through the process and manage the complex aspects of promotion.

Remember, every client and project is unique, so it's important to adapt your approach accordingly.

1. When it comes to commercial niches, having a level 2 domain is crucial.
2. The responsibility of achieving this lies with the optimizer and copywriter, rather than the designer and layout designer whose role is to create a functional website based on the terms of reference (TOR).
3. While it is recommended, the profitability of the traffic depends on the niche and the website itself. In the case of an underperforming website, the conversion rate will be low, making any advertising traffic costly. It's not the traffic itself that is expensive, but rather the lack of desired results such as orders.

Now let's get to the main point. Did you include any clauses in the contract stating that the website should rank within the top 10 in Google for specific queries within 6 years of signing the acceptance of works?

If you did, consider whether your reputation or financial gain is more important when deciding whether to make further adjustments to the website in accordance with the TOR and contract.

If there are no such clauses, then feel free to politely decline the customer's requests - you are not obligated to fulfill them.

Generally, search engines tend to favor the second level more than the third. Therefore, it is important to examine competitors in the specific niche and region, and if they have a second level, it is necessary for us to have one as well.

This task is typically performed by SEO specialists. They write a technical task (TK) for a copywriter-rewriter, review the outcome, and then publish it on the website.

There exist various advertising strategies and platforms to consider. It is crucial to recognize that ad boards and search results target different audiences and lead to different conversions. It might be concerning to witness individuals from the same company using VKontakte groups and billboards separately as part of their marketing efforts.

PS: If programmers were to consider the true purpose of creating a website for an organization, they could take all these aspects into account and gain additional advantages. It's unfortunate that programmers often overlook the actual task of their product.

During the planning phase, I conduct thorough keyword research to identify relevant search terms and phrases that align with the website's goals and target audience. This involves utilizing tools like Google Keyword Planner, SEMrush, or Ahrefs to understand search volume, competition, and user intent. I analyze the keywords to determine which ones will be most effective in driving organic traffic to the website.

Once the keywords are identified, I integrate them strategically throughout the website's content. This involves optimizing meta titles, descriptions, and tags, as well as incorporating keywords naturally within the body of the text. I also pay close attention to headers and subheadings, ensuring that they are not only structured for readability but also contain relevant keywords.

As a web developer, I am also responsible for ensuring the technical aspects of text optimization are implemented correctly. This includes optimizing page load times, implementing structured data markup for rich snippets, and managing the website's overall crawlability and indexability for search engines.

In addition to keyword integration, I focus on creating high-quality, engaging content that provides value to the website visitors. This involves crafting compelling copy that resonates with the target audience while adhering to best practices for readability and user experience.

Furthermore, I am attentive to the use of multimedia elements within the content. I optimize images with descriptive filenames and alt text to enhance accessibility and improve search engine visibility. Additionally, I may incorporate video transcripts and captions to make video content more accessible and indexable by search engines.

As part of my ongoing responsibilities, I monitor and analyze the performance of the website's content. This involves utilizing web analytics tools to track user engagement, click-through rates, and conversion metrics. Based on this data, I may refine and optimize the website's text to improve its effectiveness in driving desired actions from visitors.
