The largest solar power project in India is currently a 1 GW solar project located in Bikaner, Rajasthan. This project is being developed by SJVN Limited, with Tata Power Solar Systems handling the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract. The project is estimated to cost ₹54.91 billion (approximately $72.21 million) and is scheduled to be completed by May 2024.

The Bikaner project is expected to generate 2,454.55 million units (MU) of electricity in its first year and approximately 56,838.32 MUs over 25 years. Additionally, it will help reduce 2.78 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions over the same period. This project is part of SJVN's broader renewable energy vision, aiming to achieve 5 GW by 2023, 25 GW by 2030, and 50 GW by 2040, contributing to India's target of 500 GW renewable energy capacity by 2030.

The scope of work for this project includes land acquisition, the power evacuation system up to the interstate transmission system (ISTS) substation, and three years of operation and maintenance. This development marks India's largest EPC contract in the solar sector to date.
