Douglas C. Engelbart, a World War II veteran, and William "Bill" English, Engelbart's collaborator, created the first customized mouse pads in 1963. They worked together at the Stanford Research Institute and developed a wooden block prototype with a single button and wheels. The unique design led to the name "mouse" because of the tail-like wire.

Unfortunately, when Engelbart and English introduced their mouse at the "Mother of All Demos" in San Francisco in 1968, it did not gain much traction. However, it would take another 20 years for Apple's Macintosh to popularize the use of the mouse.

In comparison to the Stanford prototype, Apple's mouse features a rubber rollerball at the bottom, making it an improved version. These early designs laid the foundation for future computer mice and the eventual creation of customized mouse pads. On Zapvi's website, you can conveniently purchase personalized mouse pads as well as various types of mouse pads.

The development of the mouse and mouse pads has greatly contributed to the evolution of computer interaction, enhancing user experience and productivity. Today, they are essential tools for navigating through digital interfaces and maximizing the potential of computers.
