The zero-waste movement has become increasingly popular as a means of promoting sustainability and addressing climate change. Its main objective is to eliminate all waste from daily life, with a focus on single-use plastic. The environmental impact of plastic waste is significant and long-lasting, whether it is discarded, recycled, burned, or left on the ground. Plastic bags and bottles alone can take anywhere from 10 to 1000 years to decompose, during which time they inflict significant damage on the environment.

To tackle this challenge, the Karo Sambhav - Closing Material Loops project, led by PACE members and supported by 30 top FMCG companies, aims to divert all recyclable materials from landfill by 2025. Karo Sambhav's key priorities for managing plastic waste include developing infrastructure for various waste types and establishing a nationwide system for effective management. Overall, the goal is to promote a more sustainable future by reducing overall waste and mitigating the negative impacts of plastic on the environment through innovative solutions and collaborative efforts.
