Title: Help with webhosting choice
Post by: ilhm on Jul 03, 2022, 09:31 AM
Greetings everyone!

I'm in search of a cost-effective and reliable dedicated server provider. As my business is growing, so is my website, and I need a suitable hosting solution. I believe renting a dedicated blade server would be the best option for me to try new tools and tackle new challenges.
Can you suggest any service providers that offer this type of service?

Greetings.

Your inquiry lacks clarity. Are you searching for a dedicated server or a hosting service? You have mentioned both in your message.
It's worth noting that low prices often compromise quality.
Additionally, the term "low price" can be subjective.
Before I offer any suggestions, kindly specify the nature of the project for which you require the server/hosting service.

My recommendation to you is to avoid cutting corners when renting or purchasing dedicated servers since cost-cutting measures are often associated with shared hosting services. When it comes to blade servers, I highly suggest considering ZJetHost as they provide premium quality servers.

If you need dedicated server you should check leaseweb, they have a lot of servers for any purposes and delivering them worldwide (you don't even have to do everything yourself just contact them and they will help to choose).

Fornex.com is a server provider that offers Centos, Debian, Ubuntu, and Windows operating systems with KVM virtualization. Their servers make use of modern NVMe disks and offer protection against DDoS attacks up to 10Gbps. VestaCP, HestiaCP (free), and ISPmanager (paid) are available as control panels. Additional IP and hardware protection against DDoS attacks up to 250 Gbit/s can be ordered for a fee.
While Fornex.com's prices are lower than their competitors, backup services need to be purchased separately. Additionally, there is no free trial period.

On the other hand, ispserver.com's servers also use KVM virtualization and offer Centos, Debian, Ubuntu, and Windows operating systems. They also provide IPv4 and IPv6 IP addresses, with optional protection against DDoS attacks and ISPmanager control panel for an additional fee. Automated backups come at an extra cost, but server administration is included in the price.

While their VPS pricing is not the lowest on the market, discounts on server and SSL certificates are offered when transferring sites to web hosting. Furthermore, customer support typically responds within 15 minutes, even at night. Physical servers are located in their own data center.

It should be remembered that the blade server is efficient in a cluster. Every solution has its price. The disadvantage is the reduction of expansion possibilities, for example, it may be difficult to install two Ultra320 SCSI RAID controllers or a special communication board. On the other hand, there are a sufficient number of tasks that can be solved without these additions. In addition, many models have a single PCI slot. Among the disadvantages, we can also note the limitations of the power of one "blade" — it is very difficult to install more than four processors.

Lemme assure ya that I've done my homework and checked out several providers. Now, let's dive into the top contenders that offer excellent performance, top-notch security, and won't break the bank.

DigitalOcean: These guys are known for their simplicity and affordability. Their "Flexible Resources" plan allows you to customize your server's CPU, memory, and storage, making it an ideal choice for blade servers. Plus, they offer a user-friendly control panel and have a strong focus on developer-friendly features.

Pricing: Starts at around $20/month for a basic plan with 1 vCPU, 1GB RAM, and 25GB SSD storage.

Pros: Easy to use, flexible resources, and great for developers. Cons: Limited customization options compared to other providers.

Linode: Linode is another well-respected provider that offers powerful dedicated blade servers. Their "Dedicated CPU" plans provide high-performance servers with guaranteed CPU resources, perfect for running resource-intensive applications. They also offer a global network and excellent API capabilities.

Pricing: Starts at around $30/month for a basic plan with 2 vCPUs, 2GB RAM, and 40GB SSD storage.

Pros: High-performance servers, global network, and strong API capabilities. Cons: Slightly more expensive than other providers on this list.

Hetzner: Based in Germany, Hetzner offers exceptional value for money with their "Cloud Server" and "Dedicated Server" plans. Their blade servers come with impressive specs at affordable prices, making them a popular choice among budget-conscious users. They also provide a user-friendly control panel and excellent network performance.

Pricing: Starts at around €30/month (approx. $35/month) for a basic plan with 2 vCPUs, 4GB RAM, and 40GB SSD storage.

Pros: Great value for money, user-friendly control panel, and excellent network performance. Cons: Limited data center locations outside of Europe.

Vultr: Vultr offers high-performance, low-latency dedicated blade servers with their "High Frequency" plans. These servers are perfect for running demanding workloads, such as machine learning, big data processing, and video transcoding. They also provide a user-friendly control panel and global data center locations.

Pricing: Starts at around $25/month for a basic plan with 2 vCPUs, 4GB RAM, and 40GB SSD storage.

Pros: High-performance servers, low latency, and global data center locations. Cons: Limited customization options for lower-tier plans.

Now, before ya make a decision, here are a few tips to keep in mind:

Data center location: Choose a provider with data centers close to your target audience to ensure optimal performance and lower latency.
Scalability: Make sure the provider offers easy scalability options to accommodate your business growth.
Security: Ensure the provider offers robust security features, such as firewalls, DDoS protection, and regular backups.
Support: Check if the provider offers 24/7 customer support, as you'll want quick assistance if any issues arise.

All the providers I mentioned offer reliable and cost-effective dedicated blade server solutions. The best choice ultimately depends on your specific needs, budget, and preferences.
