Idea to be implemented?

While travelling around the world, often by rented car, I unexpectedly came up with a startup idea. I thought about creating a website that allows individuals to post their car journey videos, from one point to another, online.

It would require attaching a mini camera, like a GoPro, to the side window and changing the memory card when full. The footage can then be uploaded onto the site for editing and publication. I plan to host the site myself, with 1Gbit and 100Tb of traffic costing $200/month, and monetize through advertising after gaining traffic. Initially, I will shoot videos myself and offer friends and acquaintances the opportunity to hold a camera on their glass in exchange for a personal video of their trip.

Users can easily view available videos of routes between two points, as well as selected short clips of interesting moments. What are your thoughts on this idea? Do you think this startup is feasible?

Here's what I want to say:
It's entirely up to you to decide whether or not to take action. Some people may disagree, but they'll be the first ones to accept it when the project becomes successful.

As for your question, you shouldn't rely on anonymous users to make decisions for you.
Instead, it's better to conduct research on the market, demand, affordability, etc. and then make an informed decision on whether it's worth pursuing or not.

I used to have an idea that is slightly modified. Instead of just traveling to "beautiful places" by car, individuals who engage in extreme or unusual activities can use a camera device with an application that streams audio-video, GPS coordinates and other characteristics such as speed and altitude in real-time on a web page similar to an MCC.

The letter Y in the abbreviation represents management along with features like comments, chats, and other social media options. The question is whether people would find it interesting to watch activities like snowboarding, bicycling, paragliding, parachuting or even following adventurers on a bike ride with a solar battery pack to charge the device. Interestingly, such a streaming platform already exists, which I discovered three years ago and found quite intriguing.

Long videos, which can last several hours, are known as long journeys. However, research shows that people prefer shorter videos that last only a few minutes. This information can easily be found online.
The question is whether viewers would find it interesting to watch an amateur video of just a road and trees. Studies indicate that videos featuring a live person in the frame, preferably showing their face, are more popular on YouTube.

Ultimately, the quality and content of the video will determine its appeal to viewers. Any video should evoke some kind of emotion in the viewer to be interesting. The creator's personal attachment to the video may evoke nostalgia, but whether or not it will be interesting to the viewer depends on how effectively the creator can convey information and emotion through artistic means.

The concept of a website dedicated to sharing car journey videos has the potential to attract a diverse audience interested in travel, adventure, and unique experiences.
From a technical standpoint, the use of mini cameras such as GoPro for capturing footage is a practical and popular choice, ensuring high-quality video content. Integrating a user-friendly interface for uploading, editing, and viewing videos will be crucial in providing a seamless experience for both content creators and viewers.

In terms of hosting, your plan to self-host the site with 1Gbit and 100Tb of traffic at $200/month is reasonable, especially considering the potential demand for video content. However, it's essential to ensure scalability as traffic grows, and to implement robust security measures to protect user data and uploaded videos.

Monetization through advertising is a common strategy, though it's important to balance revenue generation with user experience to avoid overwhelming the site with ads.

Your initial approach of shooting videos yourself and involving friends and acquaintances demonstrates a practical way to kickstart the content ecosystem and engage potential users. It also allows for the creation of authentic, varied content that showcases different perspectives and locations.

Considering the growing popularity of video content and the widespread interest in travel and exploration, your startup idea holds promise. By focusing on creating a platform that fosters community engagement, storytelling, and discovery, you can position your website as a compelling destination for both creators and viewers.
With careful planning, execution, and a focus on user experience, your startup idea has the potential to be not only feasible but also a valuable addition to the online travel and video-sharing landscape.
