SOHO 66 has just provided me with a phone number that I can now access via X-LITE on my desktop.
However, I am considering investing in a VOIP phone and base station, but I'm unsure about how they function. Do I connect the base station to my computer or broadband module for Smart Setup? Furthermore, if my computer is turned off, will I still be able to receive calls with the previous model?

In addition, could you provide some assistance on how to activate my phone number? Despite conducting some research, I still have some questions regarding setting it up. Could you provide some pros and cons as well?

As a member of the Soho66 team, I came across your post and would like to address one of your initial inquiries. The base station connects directly to the router, which means the computer does not need to be turned on to make or receive calls.

If you require assistance with device settings, you can easily access a comprehensive support section on our website by clicking on it from the homepage. This information is applicable to many manufacturers. Additionally, if you encounter any issues, our support team is always available to help. We value open communication with our customers.

When connecting the tubes, it is possible to encounter some errors.

If you see the message "Not registered" on the handset screen continuously, it is important to ensure that the base station was still in pairing mode during the connection process. To reactivate the pairing mode, go to the web interface of the base station and select the "User" section. Then, click the box next to the desired handset and select "Register handset" from the list.

Another error you may encounter is "No SIP registration" on the phone. This is often caused by entering incorrect SIP account data. To solve this problem, navigate to the "User" section of the web interface and select the desired tube. In the right half of the line, re-enter the user data. If the information is entered correctly this time, the account data will be displayed correctly on the handset and will remain visible after a few seconds.

When setting up a VOIP phone and base station, you typically connect the base station to your broadband module or internet router. This allows the phone to access the internet and make calls using your VOIP service. You do not need to connect the base station directly to your computer.

If your computer is turned off, you can still receive calls with a VOIP phone, as the phone is not dependent on your computer being on. The calls will be routed directly to your phone number, and you can answer them even if your computer is off.

To activate your phone number, you will need to follow the specific instructions provided by SOHO 66. They should have given you steps to activate your number, which might involve setting up an account with their service and configuring your phone or base station accordingly. It's best to refer to their documentation or contact their customer support for assistance specific to their service.

As for the pros and cons of using a VOIP phone and base station:

Pros:
1. Cost savings: VOIP services are often cheaper than traditional phone lines, especially for long-distance and international calls.
2. Flexibility: You can use your VOIP phone anywhere with an internet connection, allowing for mobility.
3. Advanced features: VOIP phones often come with features like call forwarding, voicemail, and caller ID, providing more functionality than traditional phones.
4. Scalability: It's usually easy to add additional phone lines or expand your system as your business grows.
5. Integration: VOIP phones can integrate with other communication tools like email, video conferencing, and instant messaging.

Cons:
1. Reliance on internet connection: If your internet connection goes down, you won't be able to make or receive calls.
2. Voice quality: In some cases, the voice quality may not be as good as traditional landlines, depending on the stability and speed of your internet connection.
3. Power dependency: If there's a power outage, your VOIP phone may not work unless you have a backup power supply.

It's important to note that the pros and cons can vary depending on the specific VOIP service provider and the quality of your internet connection.
