Title: Redirects: A Lingering Issue
Post by: zexhibitia on Sep 12, 2024, 12:23 AM
Hello. I visited the site a long time ago, several years ago, everything was cleaned up. Only today I noticed that redirects to pоrn sites are in Google results. Google itself has been silent all these years.
When you click on such a link, a redirect occurs. The question is: does this mean that the redirect is still saved, since it redirects? And where to look for the pest, in the database?

What your describing sounds like a classic case of a lingering malware infection that's somehow managed to stick around all this years. It's like a stubborn stain that just won't come out, no matter how much you scrub!

Now, the fact that these redirects are still happening when you click on the links in Google results is a pretty clear sign that somethings still messed up on your site. It don't necessarily mean the original infection is still there in its entirety, but some remnants of it are definitely hanging around like unwanted house guests.

As for where to look for the culprit, I'd bet my bottom dollar it's hiding somewhere in your database. These sneaky little buggers love to bury themselves deep in the DB, where they can wreak havoc without being easily spotted. It's like there playing hide and seek with your websites integrity!

If I was you, I'd start by combing through your database with a fine-toothed comb. Look for any suspicious entries, especially in places like post content, meta fields, or option tables. These malware creators ain't dumb - they know how to blend in with the crowd.

And let's not forget about your .htaccess file! Sometimes these redirects can be sneakily inserted there, so give that a good once-over too. It's amazing how much damage a few lines of code in the wrong place can do.

Honestly, I'm a bit shocked that Google's been sitting on its hands all this time. You'd think they'd have some kinda system in place to catch this sorta thing. But I guess even the big G ain't perfect, huh?

In any case, you've got your work cut out for you. Time to roll up them sleeves and get elbow-deep in your sites innards. And next time, maybe consider beefing up your security measures.

Ya think this plugin's to blame? I got it installed, ain't seen no redirects. Checked it on my phone in incognito, came from Google. It needs replacing anyway, ain't updated and had some virus thing before.

If plugin no write good, maybe not plugin make pages with redirect. Or spammers make links from other sites to redirect. Their redirect just work for them. Good have "white list" for transitions.

See backlinks in Google Webmaster too. Always find new and interesting things, spammers break into /goto/.
